Who Is Kargalkan in Solo Leveling: Arise? What Was His Role?

Solo Leveling Season 2 is getting ever more interesting since Jinwoo has now entered an A-rank gate, which is home to high-rank orcs, which made the actual gate ranking higher than A. Episode 5 of Solo Leveling Season 2 ended with the orc named Kargalkan making his presence known to the humans in the gate, letting them know that his barrier can’t be dispelled. He then ordered them to follow his henchmen to his lair.

Jinwoo instantly realized that Kargalkan was no joke, and that his power was off the charts considering the other members in the gate; however, his reason for inviting the hunters to his place is unknown. In this article, we’ll explain everything you need to know about Kalgalkan, his reason for asking the hunters to meet him, and how Jinwoo dealt with him.

1. Who Is Kalgalkan?

Kalgalkan is a high orc shaman and the boss of the A-rank gate that the Hunter’s Guild and Jinwoo raided in Episode 5 of Solo Leveling Season 2. Like other high orcs, Kalgalkan has red skin. However, unlike other orcs, he has distinct neon tattoos on his face and arms, giving him a powerful yet authoritative look.

Interestingly, Kalgalkan wears a necklace made of human skulls. This is proof of his disrespect for humans, as he takes pleasure in tormenting humans and ridicules them even after death by converting their bodies into jewelry. Kalgalkan is an arrogant and condescending monster who met his end at Jinwoo’s hands at the end of the A-rank gate raid.

2. Why Did Kalgalkan Invite The Hunters To His Den?

When the hunters reached Kalgalkan’s den, they asked him why he had brought them there, as his underlings could’ve easily killed them off without having to go through the bother of bringing them to their boss. To this, Kalgalkan replied by telling them that they were summoned to entertain all the orcs in the room. Not for any questionable reasons, but the orcs wanted to torture all the humans for their own satisfaction before killing them, and Kalgalkan needed them to be killed one by one to entertain his lackeys.

Kalgalkan also noticed that one of the members of their party was exceptionally strong. He also wanted to defeat that fighter and humiliate him in particular. The platoon leader, out of rage, charged at Kalgalkan, but he was immediately put out of action by the high orc’s gravity manipulation magic. At this point, Jinwoo realized that they would all be wiped out if he didn’t step in, so he asked the leader, Ki-Hoon, if he had permission to kill all the orcs in the room.

3. How Does Jinwoo Defeat Kalgalkan?

Jinwoo started killing the orcs off with just a motion of his hand, which had Kalgalkan surprised. He commended Jinwoo’s skill but also severely belittled him and told him that he wouldn’t last long against his army of Orcs. Jinwoo realized how much of a disadvantageous matchup the orcs had against him, and he proceeded to summon his shadow army to wipe the high orcs out.

Most of Jinwoo’s shadow warriors were weaker than the average high orc; however, he planned on defeating all the remaining orcs before he ran out of mana. Later, he realized that this plan wasn’t foolproof as Kalgalkan had high offensive and defensive abilities, he decided to use his necromancer abilities to turn Kalgalkan’s orcs into his own shadow men to reduce the strain on his army.

Jinwoo then completely overpowered Kalgalkan, ripped him of his arrogance, and slew him using his new army of high orcs. He then extracted the shadow from the corpse of the monster, which manifested as an elite knight. He then named this shadow warrior “Tusk” and added him to his shadow warrior collection.
