In Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, you will have to find the traitor in the Old Wounds Quest. You are tasked to choose between Gerhild and Lork as the AC Valhalla Old Wounds traitor.
The Old Wounds mission is similar to the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla quest ‘Stench of Treachery Traitor’ near the beginning of the main story arc, but here we have just two choices to choose from.
However, the stakes are relatively high as selecting the wrong option can potentially be fatal towards the end. This post will be containing spoilers; consider yourself warned.
Who’s The Traitor in AC Valhalla Old Wounds Quest?
During the Old Wounds Quest, Rollo takes you to the location where the prime suspects, Gerhild and Lork, are. You will have to use Odin’s Sight and interact with the characters to find the traitor.
Even after interacting with the two characters and exhausting Odin’s sight, things might not be too clear. Don’t make a random guess as there is only one correct choice, and the other option can lead to dire consequences.
Gerhild is the traitor who betrayed Rollo in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Old Wounds quest. Once you begin questioning, her excuse of being absent since she was ‘with a Saxon man’ isn’t believable given Gerhild already lied about hunting. Among the two choices, Gerhild and Lork, pick Gerhild as the traitor to have her swiftly executed and pass the quest.
Finding out the right traitor is not just a random guess, but if you follow the clues and the two suspects’ dialogue responses closely, you will notice the discrepancies.
How To Find The Traitor in AC: Valhalla Old Wounds Quest?
The first thing to do after Rollo leads you to Gerhild and Lork is to confront them and check their alibis. They will claim to be hunting for rabbits, while Lork will instigate he saw Gerhild speaking to a Saxon.
If you visit and examine a nearby game rack where the hunted animals are kept, you will notice how it is full, and the lot would need not to go hunting. Something is amiss.
To solidify your finding use Odin’s Sight to find a hiding spot to the left of Gerhild, clearly implying that someone hid there during the attack. Confront the two again in light of the discovery, and both of them will admit that they were lying about hunting for food.
While Gerhild will make up a story about meeting a local Saxon lover, Lork, on the other hand, will admit he fell asleep in the forest during the attack in the spot that we found in the woods.
Upon sharing the info with Rollo, he admits that even though Lork is growing old and wary of the Viking way but he had sworn a blood oath, and his kind is known to be true to their word.
Lork could have very well been asleep in the forest given his age, but there is no reason for Gerhild to be absent during the attack unless she was directly involved. Also, Gerhild despises the Saxons and Rollo for being with Estrid so her having a Saxon lover is very unlikely.
Upon interacting with Lork and Gerhild, you can examine the hunting game rack and use Odin’s Sight to inspect a hiding spot in the forest to discover who betrayed Rollo in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s Old Wounds Quest.
Consequences of Wrong Choice
All the clues lead towards Gerhild being the traitor while Lork is entirely innocent, but if you don’t reach the same conclusion and pick Lork to be the traitor, Gerhild will stir up trouble later in the storyline.
If you pick the wrong choice in the Old Wounds Quest in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, that is, Lork, the real traitor Gerhild will get away scot-free. Later in the main storyline, Gerhild will still be alive and try to harm Estrid, which would make getting her out of England quite hard.
