Major Cameos & Surprises in Deadpool & Wolverine

The long wait is finally over. After six years, Deadpool has returned with his new buddy, Wolverine.

Deadpool & Wolverine, directed by Shawn Levy ,starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman in the main roles, has been this year’s most anticipated films and Marvel’s biggest release yet.

Reynolds and Jackman officially debut in the MCU timeline with Deadpool & Wolverine. So far, the characters have only appeared in the Fox universe, but with Disney’s acquisition of Fox in 2019, the time has come for Deadpool and the Fox X-Men universe to join the MCU family. To remember the significant event, the Deadpool & Wolverine cast features numerous well-known performers who have acted in Marvel films outside of the MCU.

Here’s every significant cameo that appeared in Deadpool & Wolverine:

15. Chris Evans As Human Torch

Chris Evans made a surprise appearance as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, his first superhero role. He was the film’s first Human Torch, appearing in Fantastic Four and its sequel, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.

When fans first see Evans in “Deadpool and Wolverine,” he wears a red and white armband, implying a comeback as Captain America. Deadpool anticipates the catchphrase “Avengers, assemble,” rather than Evans saying, “Flame on!”

However when Deadpool enters the TVA base at the film’s start, an archival video of Evans’ Captain America appears briefly.

14. Jennifer Garner as Elektra

Garner initially played Elektra in 2003’s “Daredevil,” then again in 2005’s “Elektra” and now she returns for “Deadpool and Wolverine”.

When she and her friends enumerate the other superheroes that Cassandra has murdered, they note Daredevil’s death. Longtime Marvel fans may recall that Ben Affleck, Garner’s now ex-husband, played that character.

“I’m so sorry,” Deadpool tells Elektra about Daredevil’s death.

“It’s fine,” Elektra adds with a wink to the viewers as the actors are separate off-screen.

13. Wesley Snipes As Blade

Blade’s fame precedes Iron Man, Spider-Man, and the X-Men on the big screen. Wesley Snipes’ portrayal of the vampire hunter in the 1998 picture may have ushered in the era of modern comic book movies. After a 20-year break after Blade: Trinity, Snipes returns, saying, “There’s only ever been one Blade.”

“There will only ever be one Blade.” This refers to the troublesome reboot starring Mahershala Ali, which was announced in 2019 but has been delayed and rewritten several times.

Despite this, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige assures fans that the upcoming Blade film is still in development hell and will be rated R.

12. Channing Tatum As Gambit

Channing Tatum’s cameo in the film is one of the most unexpected since the actor’s decade-long dream of playing the French thief is finally coming true.

The cameo, however, was not intended to celebrate his version of the character, which nearly made it into a film based on a screenplay he co-wrote.

Tatum’s Gambit is a source of fantastic humor, as Deadpool mocked the character’s brief trip, now appearing in a bad costume and a terrible French accent.

11. Dafne Keen As Laura/X-23

Dafne Keen was 11 years old when she filmed her role as Laura, also known as X-23, in the film Logan. She is now 19, and she is reprising her role.

Laura is technically Wolverine’s daughter, with identical abilities and an adamantium skeleton because she was created from the mutant’s DNA.

Laura was last seen standing over the grave of Wolverine, her surrogate father. She is the fourth and final member of the Resistance in the Void.

10. Jon Favreau As Happy Hogan

Wade’s encounter does not go well, and the jokes regarding Happy’s prior employment as a personal driver most likely did not assist him.

In Deadpool & Wolverine, Jon Favreau’s Happy Hogan, the Head of Security at Stark Industries, reappears to interview Wade Wilson, who aspires to become successful and join the Avengers.

9. Henry Cavill As Wolverine

Deadpool confronts a Wolverine version played by Henry Cavill; this must be fan service because the actor was rumored to play a Wolverine variant, which fans have enjoyed. Cavill’s famed mustache removal mishap in Justice League is mentioned comically, with Deadpool saying that Disney will treat him better.

Cavill’s Wolverine appears in a fast-paced montage in which Deadpool travels across time searching for a successor for Logan.

Cavill’s Wolverine is first seen working with an old motorcycle from behind then he ultimately turns to show his face.

8. Cassandra Nova’s Troop— Pyro, Toad, Lady Deathstrike, Colossus

Deadpool & Wolverine’s main antagonist, Cassandra Nova, has gathered an impressive group of henchmen from previous X-Men movies. She is accompanied by Ray Park’s Toad from X-Men, Kelly Hu’s Lady Deathstrike from X-2: X-Men United, Aaron Stanford’s Pyro from X-Men: The Last Stand, and Stefan Kapicic’s Colossus from Deadpool. Include Juggernaut as well.

7. Wunmi Mosaku as Hunter B-15/Verity Willis

After learning of the unauthorized deployment of a time ripper device in Mr. Paradox’s (Matthew Macfadyen) sector, Hunter B-15 shows up in “Deadpool & Wolverine”.

6. Chris Hemsworth As Thor & Hulk

A brief cameo by Chris Hemsworth as the Asgardian God of Thunder appears on a TV screen within the Time Variance Authority headquarters. Wade is shown glimpses of his life if he were to leave his reality and join the Sacred Timeline by Mr. Paradox (Matthew Macfadyen). Wade catches a glimpse of a future when he is dying in Thor’s arms, sobbing, on one of these screens.

Viewers quickly peek at a parallel dimension where Wolverine and the Hulk are engaged in combat during the scene where Deadpool encounters several Wolverine incarnations. This refers to Wolverine’s appearance in The Incredible Hulk #180–181, where he also engaged in combat with the green berserker. It’s difficult to tell from the angle of the picture whether this Hulk is meant to be Mark Ruffalo’s interpretation of the superhero or whether it’s someone else entirely.

5. Ant-Man (Skull)

Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man, who died in a huge size and is now Cassandra Nova’s foundation. It might not qualify as a cameo. The reason behind his demise and his descent into the Void remain unknown, however Deadpool’s joke that “Paul Rudd finally aged” did not escape the skull.

4. Tyler Mane As Sabretooth

Fans have waited for decades for the lone confrontation between Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and the X-Men villain. Deadpool gives Wolverine advice on how to win the fight while making jokes and breaching the fourth wall. When Wolverine orders Deadpool to “shut the fuck up,” the latter responds, “Good luck, I’m a huge fan,” in a timid manner. As the battle comes to a close, Wolverine beheads Sabretooth.

Tyler Mane portrayed Sabretooth in X-Men, where Sabretooth faced off against Wolverine on the Statue of Liberty. Fans have been waiting “decades” for this duel, Deadpool remarks as Mane’s Sabretooth reappears in Deadpool & Wolverine.

3. Matthew McConaughey As Cowboypool

In Deadpool & Wolverine, Matthew McConaughey also had a surreptitious cameo as the cowboy version of Deadpool, showing up when the variants confront Wolverine and Ryan Reynolds’s antihero. This is another of the film’s somewhat under-the-radar appearances. At the same time, fans of McConaughey’s more Western-leaning movies could have recognized him right away, but plenty of others probably missed him entirely.

2. Nathan Fillion As Headpool

Headpool, a disembodied head with a propeller attachment which, like the other Corps members, is a product of Marvel comics, was another noteworthy character in the Deadpool Corps. Nathan Fillion, who has a long career in Marvel films, voices Headpool.

He has been in all three Guardians of the Galaxy films in different capacities. This is a particularly fitting appearance for Fillion, who is set to make his DCU debut shortly, as it strengthens both the actor’s superhero career and the roster of cameos in Deadpool and Wolverine.

1. Blake Lively As Lady Deadpool & Reynold’s 3 kids as Deadpool Variants

Since the teaser for Deadpool & Wolverine teased Lady Deadpool’s arrival, fans have been guessing about the actress hiding behind the mask.

Although her face is kept disguised throughout the film, her name is revealed in the post-credits sequence. Throughout the movie, there are references to Lively, as in Deadpool’s joke about Gossip Girl and his line, “I’m telling Blake!” when he’s in a fight.

The credit for becoming a screaming mutant goes to their oldest daughter, James. Meanwhile, 7-year-old Inez plays Kidpool and 1 year-old Olin plays Babypool.
