Name a more iconic duo than Kratos and the Spartan Rage, and this time we have not one but three types of Spartan Rage in the latest God of War Ragnarok, the last installment in the GoW’s Norse Saga.
Spartan Rage is one of the game’s main combat features, allowing Kratos to enter an incredibly enraged battle state for a short span of time and do a tremendous amount of damage to the enemies.
The three types of Spartan Rage available in the game are:
- Fury
- Valor
- Wrath
Wrath is the best Spartan Rage in God of War Ragnarok because it offers more damage to all enemies for less cost. It is also the last Spartan Rage to unlock.
Fury is the second-best Spartan Rage, in my opinion. It is the standard Rage we see in God of War (2018) as well. It enables players to deal heavy damage melee combos to the enemies, with each hit healing the player slightly.
It is the default Spartan Rage that will be available since the first quest of the game, Surviving Fimbulwinter.
How to unlock Wrath Spartan Rage?
Wrath Spartan Rage can be unlocked towards the end of “Unleashing Hell,” the 11th quest of The Path. (Main storyline of God of War Ragnarok).
This Spartan Rage ability allows Kratos to deliver an incredibly high power attack to a single target by consuming a large portion of rage. It allows you to charge at the target with your currently equipped weapon to deal massive damage with bonus weapon effects.
How to unlock Valor Spartan Rage?
Valor Spartan Rage is unlocked during the Vanadis Valkyrie battle shortly after The Lost Sanctuary quest, which is fifth in the main storyline.
Valor exchanges a portion of Spartan Rage for a part of health. Activating it right before you get hit heals you even more and gives you a melee buff.
How to switch Spartan Rage abilities in God of War Ragnarok?
As you progress through the story, you’ll unlock two brand new Spartan Rage abilities, Wrath and Valour, along with the base ability which is Fury. You can switch to any of the Spartan Rage abilities from the character menu. Underneath the Weapons category will be Spartan Rage, and you can swap between Fury, Wrath and Valour.
You’ll have access to the base Spartan Rage, which is Fury, since the beginning of the game but in order to unlock Wrath and Valour, you’ll have to progress through the main story.
How to use Spartan Rage in God of War Ragnarok?
Spartan Rage can be used by pressing L3 + R3 on your PlayStation controller in God of War Ragnarok.
In the case of the “Fury” Spartan Rage, use the R1, R2, L1, and L2 buttons to attack your enemies after you enter the state of Rage by pressing L3+ R3.
