Developed by Gunfire Games, Remnant 2 is the critically acclaimed sequel to Remnant: From the Ashes, and it focuses primarily on third-person gunplay. The game boasts a diverse array of weapons, both melee and ranged, and since it’s a third-person shooter, ranged weapons are the way to go.
The guns in the game are divided into two categories: handguns and long guns but I’ll focus on the long guns as they’re the ones you’ll use the most if ranged is your preferred playstyle. There are a total of 22 different long guns, and not all of them are useful, so I’m going to rank 8 of the best ones in the game.
Without further ado, let’s dive into the details of these guns and what makes them special.
8 Huntmaster M1
Damage | 70 |
RPS | 1.5 |
Magazine | 7 |
Ideal Range | 27m |
Falloff Range | 75m |
Max Ammo | 42 |
Critical Hit Chance | 5% |
Weak Spot Damage Bonus | 110% |
Stagger Modifier | 5% |
The Huntmaster M1 is a formidable rifle that can take out enemies from a range of twenty-seven meters and deliver a damage output of seventy without any upgrades, making it a perfect weapon for players that prefer to stay at a distance.
Another added bonus for this rifle is that it comes with a scope that can zoom in on long distances, so if you’re aiming to take out enemies from afar, this is the ideal weapon for you. You can get this long gun by starting the game as a Hunter Archetype or by purchasing it from Brabus in Ward 13.
7 Chicago Typewriter
Damage | 10 |
RPS | 11 |
Magazine | 80 |
Ideal Range | 17m |
Falloff Range | 55m |
Max Ammo | 320 |
Critical Hit Chance | 10% |
Weak Spot Damage Bonus | 105% |

The Chicago Typewriter is a classic weapon, making its return from the previous game, and it boasts a base ammo magazine size of eighty rounds and a fire rate of eleven rounds per second, making it a long gun that can destroy enemies rapidly.
It also has an ideal range of seventeen meters, which, coupled with the high fire rate, can help players clear hordes of enemies without breaking a sweat. The weapon can be obtained by acquiring the Biome Portal Key.
6 Alpha / Omega
Damage | 15 |
RPS | 7.2 |
Magazine | 55 |
Ideal Range | 24m |
Falloff Range | 70m |
Max Ammo | 275 |
Critical Hit Chance | 10% |
Weak Spot Damage Bonus | 100% |
Stagger Modifier | 0% |
The Alpha / Omega is an endgame long gun that can be unlocked only by defeating the final boss of the game. What makes this gun special are its perks, which can turn the tide of battle and give you an edge on the battlefield.
In addition to that, the long gun also comes with helpful weapon mods that can modify the gun in many ways. One such mod is the Beta Ray mod. If you hit an enemy with this mod equipped, it’ll put a mark on them, and if you manage to kill them while the mark’s still active, reloading or switching weapons will make their bodies burst, damaging nearby enemies.
5 Widowmaker
Damage | 125 |
RPS | 2.4 |
Magazine | 1 |
Ideal Range | 35m |
Falloff Range | 85m |
Max Ammo | 27 |
Critical Hit Chance | 10% |
Weak Spot Damage Bonus | 120% |
Stagger Modifier | 20% |
The Widowmaker is a powerhouse sniper rifle that can take down enemies from long distances with great accuracy and precision. This is the ideal long gun for you if you don’t want to get too close to enemies and play it ranged.
The Widowmaker will be available in Brabus’ shop in Ward 13 pretty early on, and it won’t seem all that bad after you use it for the first time. But as you upgrade the weapon and use it to its full potential, you’ll realise just how formidable a gun the Widowmaker can be, delivering massive amounts of damage with accuracy.
4 Merciless
Damage | 13 |

Falloff Range | 45m |
Max Ammo | 250 |
Critical Hit Chance | 10% |
Weak Spot Damage Bonus | 100% |
Stagger Modifier | 0% |
From the name itself, this long gun is ready to raise hell. Featuring a nightmarish design, Merciless’ best ability is to inflict bleed damage upon enemies, punishing anyone that gets in its way.
The long gun can be obtained by crafting it at the McCabe Store after acquiring its blueprint. Its bleed damage can obliterate enemies in no time, which is why it ranks 4th in our list. Coupled with a great fire rate and a big magazine, this long gun can mow down enemies with ease.
3 Aphelion
Damage | 13 |
RPS | 8.6 |
Magazine | 50 |
Ideal Range | 20m |
Falloff Range | 45m |
Max Ammo | 250 |
Critical Hit Chance | 10% |
Weak Spot Damage Bonus | 100% |
Stagger Modifier | 0% |
Aphelion rocks an Eldritch-esque design with eyeballs attached to it. It’s a beast of a weapon that’s ideal for crowd control as it shoots horizontal energy beams. When hordes of enemies surround you, this is the weapon to use.
It can only be obtained by defeating Sha’Hala using the Override Pin, and once you do so, the whole region of N’Erud will become inaccessible, meaning you won’t be able to travel there anymore. So be sure to do everything in that area before going for this weapon.
2 Deceit
Damage | 120 |

Magazine | 6 |
Ideal Range | 28m |
Falloff Range | 75m |
Max Ammo | 30 |
Critical Hit Chance | 15% |

Stagger Modifier | 5% |
The Deceit is an absolute beast of a rifle that can dish out massive amounts of damage with impeccable accuracy. This long gun has a base damage of one hundred and twenty per shot at an ideal distance of twenty-eight meters.
The only downside is that it has less ammo per magazine, but the damage makes up for it. It can be crafted by using a rare material that can be obtained by defeating Faelin in Losomn. Its unique weapon mod, Ouroboros, summons swords around you, and every time an enemy is struck by them, every attack of yours will inflict weak spot damage.
1 Nightfall
Damage | 31 |
RPS | 4.3 |
Magazine | 10 |
Ideal Range | 18m |
Falloff Range | 50m |
Max Ammo | 90 |
Critical Hit Chance | 5% |
Weak Spot Damage Bonus | 105% |
Stagger Modifier | 15% |
Nightfall is the best long gun in Remnant 2. It’s a versatile and formidable weapon that can dish out insane amounts of damage quickly, killing enemies on the spot. To unlock the weapon’s full potential, players will need the right build.
It also has a sick special ability called “Dread Walker”, which transports you into the Nightmare Realm temporarily and also grants you and your weapon a number of buffs like Lifesteal, which heals you as you damage enemies, and another buff that decreases enemy accuracy, making it harder for them to target you.
