Which is the Best Background in Avowed for you?

Choosing the right background for your character is important in Avowed, as it hugely influences your story.

Avowed offers five distinct background options, each rich in lore and detail. Since this choice is permanent, pay attention to the unique attributes and playstyle alignments of each background to choose the one that fits your gameplay best.

This guide will help you select the best background for you, by explaining their characteristics and how they suit different playstyles.

In Avowed, you select a Background during character creation, which gives your character a backstory and personality before the game’s events unfold (hence called background).

While backgrounds shape the narrative, they also have a lasting impact on key areas, including dialogue options, starting gear, and character stats. Since you can re-spec your starting attributes with some in-game currency, Backgrounds do not limit your build options.

Consider the role-playing experience you want to have, because background selection is all about crafting your player’s story.

Each background includes six core stats:

  • Might: Damage output and carry capacity
  • Constitution: Health and damage resistance
  • Dexterity: Attack speed and action speed
  • Perception: Critical hit chance and range
  • Intellect: Essence capacity and elemental resistance
  • Resolve: Stamina and Second Wind efficiency

Let’s take a look at each background, along with their starting weapons and suggested attribute point allocations.
