Last Friday, Apple TV+’s latest limited series, The Last Thing He Told Me, premiered its finale and marked the show’s end with some pretty big news. The miniseries debuted on April 14, 2023, and in its 30-day streaming period, it has beaten every other short series on the streamer to climb to the top in viewership.
Variety reported that the show brought in 3.5 million viewers on its two-episode premiere, scoring the highest-watched debut episode in the streamer’s drama genre of the year. At the end of its seventh episode, the thriller had raked in a total of 4.5 million unique viewers, beating not only every drama on Apple TV+ but also a few on other platforms.
Each episode of Laura Dave and Josh Singer’s limited series has an average rate of one million viewers in the 30-day period. What’s more, it is sitting at No. 3 on the top watched shows on Apple TV+, right under Ted Lasso and Shrinking.
The Nielsen data obtained from Variety states that this miniseries has done what no show could do in limited episodes format since the streamer opened its gates in 2019.
The show’s success was a given with its talented cast, including Jennifer Garner, Angouri Rice, Aisha Tyler, Augusto Aguilera, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, and more. The show was also an adaptation based on Laura Dave’s novel of the same name that stayed at the top of the bestseller list for over a year – what else could bring in such a massive viewer count?
Packed with suspense and thrill and upraised by the spectacular performances of the actors, the show was bound to be a hit among its viewers. The show follows Hannah Hall (Jennifer Garner), who has to protect her stepdaughter from unknown dangers that her husband warned her about before disappearing.
Following an exciting plot set to a satisfactory time frame, the show is a delightful watch – worth every minute! I totally recommend giving it a try on Apple TV+.
