Bryan Cranston’s New Orleans-set series Your Honor had several key filming locations that strengthened the show’s intersecting storylines.
The Breaking Bad star returned to a leading TV role with Your Honor, a legal drama where Cranston plays Michael Desiato, a judge who must reckon with his past decisions and role in his son’s tragic hit-and-run.
In addition to Cranston, Your Honor features a talented cast including Hope Davis, Michael Stuhlbarg, Lilli Kay, Isiah Whitlock Jr., Benjamin Flores Jr., Keith Machekanyanga, Hunter Doohan, and Jimi Stanton.
1Uptown — New Orleans, Louisiana

Your Honor was not just set in New Orleans, it was New Orleans. The first season of the series was shot on location, capturing the essence of the city from September 2019 to March 2020, before the pandemic brought a halt to production.
Filming resumed in October 2020, with the first season wrapping up by the end of November. The second season, released in 2023, was also filmed in the city, from July to December 2022.
The geography of New Orleans plays a huge role in Your Honor, and some settings provide the background to important scenes.
Several Uptown locations are seen throughout the series, such as when Michael first meets his friend Charlie, who will be pretty important throughout the series. Uptown is also home to the real Ted’s Frostop Diner, and the area is returned to in several episodes of Your Honor, including season 1, episode 2, and episode 6.
2Lower Ninth Ward — New Orleans, Louisiana
The Lower Ninth Ward is where Adam’s accident occurs.
The Lower Ninth Ward is a crucial part of the cultural fabric of life in New Orleans because it is the largest district in the city.
It is also, historically, one of the areas in the city that has suffered the most in the wake of the damage from Hurricane Katrina, where hundreds of homes were utterly destroyed in 2005.
Therefore, it is no coincidence that Your Honor selected this area for Adam’s epic hit-and-run accident. The Lower Ninth Ward is where the Joneses live, a location revisited often in the series.
3Garden District — New Orleans, Louisiana
The Desiato Home is in The Garden District.
Though the Lower Ninth Ward is arguably the most critical part of New Orleans featured in Your Honor, Michael and his son Adam live in the Garden District. The interior scenes of the Desiato house were filmed at a private residence in the Garden District.
A fitting nickname, the Garden District is teeming with blooms and vitality and, in part, serves as a surrogate in the series for the voice of the poverty and destruction experienced in the Lower Ninth Ward.
Michael has had a life of luxury in the Garden District while the lives of so many in his city fall by the wayside.
4Commander’s Palace — New Orleans, Louisiana
Commander’s Palace is seen in late Season 1.
Several restaurants within Your Honor serve important roles within the series. Commander’s Palace, a cozy jazz brunch spot in the Garden District, is one of those restaurants.
The Desiato family visits Commander’s Palace and is specifically witnessed patronizing the restaurant in Your Honor season 1, episode 8, at a dinner that is intended to celebrate Adam.
5Bourbon Orleans Hotel — New Orleans, Louisiana
The Bourbon Orleans Hotel doubles as The Baxter House.
Your Honor’s most critical landscapes were created in the Bourbon Orleans Hotel, where mobster Jimmy Baxter runs his criminal operations. This plot turns out to be a crucial moment in Your Honor.
The external shots of the Baxter House Restaurant are of the Bourbon Orleans Hotel, situated in the French Quarter’s historic district in Orleans Street, New Orleans.
6The Rib Room — New Orleans, Louisiana
The Rib Room is an Interior Dining Room in The Baxter House Restaurant.
While it is an implied feature of the Baxter House, an indoor dining scene was filmed at another venue called The Rib Room.
The Rib Room is not a feature of the Bourbon Orleans Hotel but is at the Omni Royal Orleans Hotel and can be found in the French Quarter on St. Louis Street, about three blocks from the other hotel.
This Rib Room, used in the Baxter dining scene, wrapped up season 1 of Your Honor, and it creates an opulent backdrop for a show heavy on crime.
About Your Honor
Your Honor is an American drama television series starring Bryan Cranston, adapted from the Israeli TV series Kvodo. It premiered on Showtime on December 6, 2020, and ended on March 19, 2023.
While ordered as a miniseries, in August 2021, the series was renewed for a second season that premiered on January 15, 2023. In July 2022, it was reported that the second season would be its last.
The series follows the son of a prominent New Orleans judge who accidentally kills another teenager in a hit-and-run collision. The judge urges him to turn himself in to the police but changes his mind when he learns that the victim was the son of a local mafia kingpin. The judge’s attempts to dispose of the evidence have tragic consequences.
