The On Borrowed Time mission in AC Valhalla is part of the Snotinghamscire area of the map. The mission is quite simple and you just have to talk to some people and rescue some villagers. But, trying to keep up with the storyline and figuring out Vili’s location is where most players get stuck. If you’re also trying to complete the mission, here’s a little something to help you get through it faster.
While you are trying to complete the On Borrowed Time mission, you should note that the mission will only be available once you have completed the “Old Friends” mission. If not, make sure to complete it beforehand.
Now, the On Borrowed Time mission will trigger when you reach the northern gate of the Ulkerthorpe Fort and speak to Vili. But let’s talk about the whole thing in more details.
1. Talk to Vili in Ulkerthorpe Fort
Players need to talk to Vili standing near the northern gate of the Ulkerthorpe Fort to initiate the “On Borrowed Time” quest.
Once the talk with Vili is finished, Eivor will have to follow him to Stoneburgh to carry on with the mission. Reaching Stoneburgh’s gate will trigger yet another cutscene and that is where you need to do the actual rescue mission in the game.
2. Rescue Survivors in Stoneburgh
Once the cutscene of Stoneburgh finishes, players will be prompted to rescue the villagers stuck in the burning houses of the village. After filling up the taskbar to rescue the survivors, Vili will ask for help in another task.
Some of the villagers are trapped in high towers, so get ready for some intense parkour action. Also, if you cannot seem to find the people you’re looking for, just look for “!” in your marker or use your Odin’s Sight to search.
After talking to Vili you will once again have to make your way to another location in Stoneburgh to continue the task.
3. Take Survivors to Trygve
Players will have to bring the rest of the survivors to Trygve who is standing near Stoneburgh’s gates upon Vili’s request. Once the destination is reached another cutscene will trigger to move the story forward.
Eivor will try to look for Vili and a location called Kinder Downfall will be marked in the northwest part of the Stoneburgh in Snotinghamscire’s map.
4. Finding Vili in Kinder Downfall
Once players reach the icy Kinder Downfall they can use the Raven’s Eye view to search for Vili’s hidden location. After finding Vili, another cutscene will trigger where Eivor and Vili will discuss about Vili’s relationship with his father.
Knowing Vili’s father, Hemming Jarl is on his death bed the two will decide to visit him in his longhouse in Hemthorpe.
Just know that whatever dialogue choice you make, it will not affect the storyline at all.
You just simply have to follow Vili to his father’s longhouse. Entering the longhouse will trigger yet another cutscene where you can witness Hemming Jarl’s death and move on to the next task for the mission that is speaking with Trygve.
5. Talk to Trygve
Players need to head to Odin’s Rest to talk to Trygve who will be tending to the Pyre’s preparations.
If you can’t locate Trygve, don’t forget to use your abilities like Odin’s Sight or Raven’s Eye for help.
Talking to Trygve will trigger the ending cutscene for the mission where everyone will thank Eivor for the kindness she has shown towards them and for all the help she has provided.
Finishing the quest will unlock three new quests: Adorning the Adorned, Rowdy Raiders and Of Blood and Gods. With the On Borrowed Time quest finally complete, you can move on to the rest of the new quests with ease.
