Where to Find the O Mother Gesture in Elden Ring’s New DLC and How to Use It?

Gestures are movements that the player can utilize in Elden Ring. They allow players to communicate and express themselves in the game. While Gestures are used primarily to have fun while role-playing, some emotes reveal secrets that trigger quests or progress the storylines. It is fascinating to see how gameplay is intertwined with player curiosity.

The O Mother Gesture in Shadow of Erdtree DLC is one such Gesture as it helps progress Count Ymir’s Quest in the Realm of Shadow. By extension it is also related to Jolan’s quest and thus necessary for players to find.

1. Where to find the O Mother Gesture in Elden Ring?

The O Mother Gesture can be found near the Bonny Village in the Scadu Atlas region in Elden Ring. To get there:

  1. Fast-travel to Moorth Ruins and travel east until a large underground opening is visible.
  2. Jump down and proceed in the tunnels until the end to reach Bonny Village.
  3. Head north-east where the Gesture can be obtained from a statue.

1.1 Heading to Bonny Village Through Moorth Ruins

To get the O Mother Gesture the best place to begin your quest is from the Site of Grace in the ‘Moorth Ruins Cross’. This is the location at which you first meet Dryleaf Dane.

From the Site of Grace head in the east direction. After a while, you will see a large underground entrance. It looks like a huge opening in the ground with broken boulders around.

You will need to drop down into this opening. Tread carefully as the fall will kill you, likely- many times. Look for footholds as you drop down deeper underground.

Once you reach the ground at the bottom, proceed forward into the tunnels and ignore the three human-mage enemies (or defeat them unless you want to risk going down that rabbit hole again). At the end, you will reach a ladder that will lead you to the Bonny Village.

1.2 Finding the O Mother Gesture

When you reach the Bonny Village, the difficult part is done. (Yes, the killer dive into the cave) Activate the Site of Grace and proceed forward in the north-eastern direction from the Village. You will encounter a ravine, use Torrent to double jump to the cliff on the other side.

Ride in a straight line and you’ll reach a white tree with a headless statue prostrating in front of it. Interact with the statue to obtain the ‘O Mother’ Gesture.

2. How to use the O Mother Gesture in Elden Ring?

The O Mother Gesture can be used in front of the Statue of Marika located in the room next to the Site of Grace in the Back Gate of the Shadow Keep. This opens up a route to the Hinterland and furthers Count Ymir’s quest line.

The O Mother emote can be used to unlock new playable content in the Land of Shadow. To do this the player has to first arrive at the Shadow Keep’s Loft Site of Grace.

Proceed to navigate the rafters and lifts which are aplenty. This will lead the player to arrive at the Shadow Keep’s Back Gate Site of Grace.

From there head to the right to find a room with the huge Statue of Marika. You will be able to obtain a Scadutree fragment here. Use the O Mother emote in front of the statue and it will slide to the right.

This action will open up a path to the Hinterland and by extension, to the Second Ruin in Ymir’s questline.
