Iris of Occultation are unique consumable items introduced in Shadow of Erdtree DLC of Elden Ring. Unlike typical consumables, this item cannot be used to heal, buff, or debuff. It can only be given out to NPCs to receive certain quest awards.
There are very few known locations of Iris of Occultation in the game so far. Therefore, it is not easy to find it while fighting against hundreds of extremely difficult-to-beat enemies in the shadow realm of the Elden Ring.
1. Where to find Iris of Occultation in Elden Ring?
Iris of Occultation can be found in the following ways:
- Collect as a drop by defeating the Ulcerated Tree Spirit in Shadow Keep, Church District.
- Found near the statue of Marika in the Tree-Worship Passage below Shadow Keep.
- Collect as a drop by defeating the Omenkiller below the Fort Of Reprimand.
In all of these cases, it is not easy to get your hands on the Iris of Occultation because you have to deal with some strong foes to acquire it.
2. Finding and Defeating Ulcerated Tree Spirit
Assuming you have already reached the Church District, your main goal is to lower the water level and make your way to the Ulcerated Tree Spirit.
Head straight on the roofs from the Church District Entrance grace site. Walk straight till you reach the path end and take a left. Now, jump down on a narrow stone bridge from the large cavity in one of the roofs, and make your way to the west.
Take another leap further down, you will encounter a few enemies, ignore them, and keep following the path till you find a small arch gateway and a ladder.
Now, climb up the ladder and turn the giant metallic wheel to un-flood the area.
Get back down and make your way further down by entering the arch gateway.
Walk to the east and interact with the Shadow Keep grace site.
Now, make your way to the north and you will find a giant tree-like reptile monster. This is Ulcerated Tree Spirit, defeat it, and you will automatically get the Iris of Occultation.
2. Finding the Statue of Marika in Shadow Keep
This one is in the same region as before, Just make your way to the back of the Shadow Keep and you will find a giant statue of Marika there. The second Iris of Occultation is lying right under this statue.
3. Finding and Defeating Omenkiller
This Omenkiller is located below the Fort of Reprimand, which is located at the very center of the map of the Realm of the Shadows. Check the map below:
Make your way through the entrance of the Fort of Reprimand. You will see an open hatch next to the left wall. Jump down through it and make your way further down into the sewer to find the Omenkiller.
Defeat it and you will find the last Iris of Occultation.
4. How to use the Iris of Occultation in the Elden Ring Shadow of Erdtree?
The Iris of Occultation can be given to the Fire Knight Queelign to receive Queelign’s Greatsword, and to Swordhand Of Night Jolán to receive the Sword Of Night.
Additionally, there is another item called Iris of Grace which can be given to these two to receive different sets of weapons. However, if you do not necessarily use spirit ashes or only use mimic tear, then it is recommended that you give them the Iris of Occultation.
Majorly, the Iris of Occultation is only used to get these weapons, and they can prove to be quite useful for you if your playstyle is more strenth-focused.
5. About Elden Ring
Elden Ring is the next major title to be released by FromSoftware, the developers of Demon’s Souls, Bloodborne and the Dark Souls franchise. Elden Ring is set to release on the February 25th, 2022.
The game is set in a world known as The Lands Between. Players will take control of a Tarnished to explore these lands and uncover the secrets it holds.
