If you’re familiar with Karlach and her Companion Quest, The Hellion’s Heart, in Baldur’s Gate 3, then you know that you’ll require Infernal Iron to complete it. Now, obtaining this material might not be the easiest of tasks, but the good thing is that it can be found in abundance.
Here are all the Infernal Iron locations in Baldur’s Gate 3:
- Blighted Village
- Shattered Sanctum
- Zhentarim Hideout
- Grymforge
- Masons Guild
There are five known locations of Infernal Iron as of now, but the good thing is you’ll need only two to finish Karlach’s Companion Quest. You can hand over the extra Infernal Iron to Dammon. With that out of the way, let’s dive into the details of the above-mentioned locations.
1. Blighted Village
This is most likely the first location where you’ll come across a piece of Infernal Iron. It’s located in a chest in the basement of a building at coordinates X:37 Y:420 in Blighted Village.
After entering the building, use fire to burn the calcified web on the ground, jump inside the hole, climb the ladder nearby, and then unlock the chest to obtain the material. There are alternative ways of getting to the chest, but this is the easiest way to get there.
2. Shattered Sanctum
The Shattered Sanctum is located within the Goblin Camp, which can be entered through the Heavy Oak Door, and the Infernal Iron is located in Dror Ragzlin’s Stash at coordinates X:296 Y:65.
What you need to do is find Dror Ragzlin and take his Stash’s key from him by either killing him and looting it from his body or by simply pickpocketing the key. It doesn’t matter which method you choose to go for, as in the end, if you get the key, you’ll get the material.
3. Zhentarim Hideout
The Zhentarim Hideout is located near Wauken’s Rest inside the Zhentarim Basement, which can be entered through a hatch at coordinates X:127 Y:617. The material will be inside a chest behind a locked gate at coordinates X:282, Y:167.
The catch here is that there will be two chests behind the locked gate, and they’re both trapped. Pay no attention to the left, as the chest on the right contains the material. Disarm the trap, then unlock the chest on the right using a lockpick, and you’ll find what you’re looking for.
4. Grymforge
You can reach Grymforge by using the boat in Underdark. After reaching there, you’ll meet a Duegar called Stonemason Kith, who’ll ask you some questions, and you’ll need to pass a History, Investigation, or Perception check to obtain the Infernal Iron for free.
Don’t worry if you don’t successfully pass the three checks, as you’ll still be able to purchase the Infernal Iron from him for 200g. An alternative way to get the material from him for free without passing the checks is by killing him. Personally, I don’t think you need to do that, but hey, who am I to stop you?
5. Mason’s Guild
This piece of Infernal Iron is located in the Shadow Cursed Lands at coordinates X:105, Y:18. To fully access the Shadow Cursed Lands, you’ll need to progress through the campaign.
Once it’s fully accessible, you’ll be able to reach Reithwin Town. The Mason’s Guild is located North of the Town’s Waypoint, where you’ll find plenty of Infernal Iron on the first floor.
6. What is Infernal Iron used for in Baldur’s Gate 3?
The Infernal Iron that you’ve collected is used to fix Karlach’s Infernal Engine and complete her Companion Quest. All you need to do is hand over two pieces of Infernal Iron to Dammon, a Tiefling smith, and he’ll do the rest.
Don’t discard the extra infernal iron that you’ve collected; instead, give it to Dammon so that he can use it to create the Flawed Helldusk Heavy Armour for you.
7. How do you use Infernal Iron in Baldur’s Gate 3?
You can use Infernal Iron in Baldur’s Gate 3 in primarily two ways:
- You can either use it to complete Karlach’s Companion Quest, The Hellion’s Heart, or
- You can use it to create the Flawed Helldusk Heavy Armor.
It is entirely up to you what you want to do with the Infernal Iron, although I advise finishing the quest before crafting the armor. All you need to do is simply visit Dammon and tell him what you want.
