Sometimes, a side quest can be as big as defeating a boss or as small as performing an act of kindness, which is still pretty huge in Baldur’s Gate 3. The quest “Rescue the Trapped Man” requires you to rescue Benryn, who just lost his lover Mirileth, and recover the dowry his wife had hidden.
Benryn and Mirileth’s dowry can be found in the barn in Waukeen’s Rest, north of the Goblin Camp and west of The Risen Road waypoint (coordinates X:-101, Y:627) in Baldur’s Gate 3. The dowry is hidden inside a haystack at corner of the barn which is pretty easy to find.
However, you’ll need to pass a Perception check before you can recover the dowry. Once you pass the check, you’ll find the Dowry Ring which is a gold ring with the inscription “From Miri and Benryn”.
1. How to save Benryn, the Trapped Man in Baldur’s Gate 3?
To save Benryn, head to the burning house near the Waukeen’s Rest fast travel point and interact with him to free him from the beam, which is keeping him imprisoned, using an Intelligence or Strength check. Players need to save him before recovering the dowry.
Next you need to find Mirileth’s body. For this part of the quest, we recommend using Karlach to help you complete this mission faster, as she has natural fire resistance which will come in handy.
Go to the first floor on the left side of the building to find Mirileth’s corpse. Once you find her body, report it back to Benryn. Sometimes, Benryn may find the body himself and mention the dowry. Otherwise, use Speak To The Dead spell to inquire about the dowry with Mirileth.
2. How to complete “Rescue the Trapped Man” quest in Baldur’s Gate 3?
Here’s what you need to do to complete “Rescue the Trapped Man” quest:
- After freeing Benryn, instruct him to follow you in order to escape.
- Escape through the door right next to Benryn when he’s knocked down after the cutscene.
- Once you find Mirileth’s body, Benryn will mention the dowry which you need to recover.
- Since you already have recovered the dowry, hand the Dowry Ring back to Benryn.
