God of War Ragnarok features new Favours which give you valuable rewards after completion. One of these Favours involves you to close all the Hel Tears around the Nine Realms, similar to closing Realm Tears in the first game.
There are a total of six Hel Tears to find in the game, spread across all Nine Realms. This is a part of the ‘Unleashing Hel’ Favour which requires Kratos and Atreus to stop Hel-Walkers to go rampant and permanently close the Hel Tear.
Hel Tear Locations in God of War Ragnarok
I. Sindri’s House – The Realm Between Realms
Location: The first Hel Tear can be found at Sindri’s House in The Realm Between Realms. As it is a part of the main campaign of the game, you won’t miss it. To close this Hel Tear, you’ll have to defeat a horde of Hel-Walkers with the help of Freya and the dwarves, Brok and Sindri.
II. Helheim – The Gleaming Bale
Location: The second Hel Tear is located in Helheim itself. You will visit this realm through the main campaign of the game. Head through the ‘Shipyard of the Fallen’ below the Docks of Vadgelmir and make your way up through Helgrind into The Gleaming Bale. The Hel Tear is located at the bottom of The Gleaming Bale.
III. Svartalfheim – Aurvangar Wetlands
Location: This Tear can be located in the Aurvangar Wetlands in Svartalfheim. Players will visit this place early on in the game. Head to the middle of the Wetlands to spot a protrusion on the map. Climb up over the frame to spot the Hel Tear.
IV. Alfheim – The Strond
Location: This Hel Tear is located to the South of the Mystical Gateways. Take a quick scan through your map to locate a place shaped like a giraffe’s head. In the center of that place is the Hel Tear located in.
V. Vanaheim – The Southern Wilds
Location: After reaching the realm of Vanaheim, check your map. The Hel Tear is located at the bottom of the map between The Southern Wilds and The Veiled Passage.
VI. Midgard – Well of Urd
Location: The final Hel Tear is located in Midgard. Move North towards the Well of Urd to locate the Hel Tear which is hidden along the cliffside.
Rewards: Closing the Hel Tears will reward you with Hacksilver, Kratos, and Atreus XP and some common resources. Each of them also rewards you with Frozen Spark. Collect six of these Frozen Sparks and combine them to make a Frozen Flame, a resource used to upgrade the Leviathan Axe.
