The premiere of Andor introduced new locations, characters, and organizations to the audience. One such significant corporation was the Preox-Morlana. If you’ve read the Han Solo Adventures trilogy, you would’ve heard of this name before.
If you haven’t, here’s an interesting fact: The Preox-Morlana played an important role in Han Solo’s journey against the Empire. It is almost poetic that we’ll be seeing a similar place of the organization in Andor’s journey to becoming a rebel.
Here’s everything you need to know about the Preox-Morlana. I’ll delve into what it is, where it fits in the Star Wars timeline, and more.
Preox-Morlana is a Corporate Sector Authority and an affiliate of the Galactic Empire. It existed during the Imperial Era before the Galactic Civil Wars began. Known as the Pre-Mor Authority, the organization controls Morlana-One, Morlana-Four, and Ferrix.
Andor’s first three episodes set the tone for the show, and it is quite different from the previous Disney+ shows we’ve seen. It’s more serious and is packed with political drama, conspiracy, and more.
The show is set five years before the events of Rogue One, when Andor was a mercenary. It portrays how he went on to become one of the most notorious Rebels who revolted against the Empire. The unique perspective depicts the events as a political revolution as opposed to a sci-fi adventure series.
What is Preox-Morlana?
As mentioned earlier, Preox-Morlana is an authority that governs Morlana One, Four, and Ferrix. Here, the people are both employees of the authority as well as citizens of the planet. Their rule resembles a military-governed country or places controlled by the same companies that run a business there.
Although the authority is an affiliate of the Galactic Empire, it operates independently. Furthermore, even though Ferrix comes under its rule, there are hardly any operatives on that planet.
Pre-Mor commands the Corporate Tactical Forces operating across the Free Trade Sector. It is responsible for transferring soldiers across star systems under its governance. However, its primary purpose is to act as crackdown teams to eliminate threats, as in Andor.
Why is Preox-Morlana looking for Andor?
In Andor, we see Morlana-One as the place where Preox-Morlana’s headquarters exist. They are currently hunting for Cassian Andor, who killed two of its officers, Verlo and Kravas. Deputy Inspector Syril Karn then starts pursuing him but later is asked to let go by Chief Inspector Hyne.
This is because Hyne doesn’t want the Imperial Command looking into it as he is set to appear before them for a review. So, he orders Karn to set it up as an accident, but Karn refuses.
It ends up in Karn gathering three Corpo teams along with Sergeant Linus Mosk and ambushing Andor, who at the time is on Ferrix. This goes sideways and results in multiple Corpo deaths and civilian unrest.
Although Pre-Mor has appeared before in Star Wars lore, this is its first outing in a live-action piece. We do know a bit more about the organization from Han Solo Adventures. But since that isn’t canon, we still don’t know what role Pre-Mor will play in this show.
