Netflix Releases New Season 4 Teaser to Celebrate Stranger Things Day

Netflix has finally released the fourth teaser for the fourth season of Stranger Things, and it reveals where Eleven, Will, Joyce, and Jonathan moved to after leaving Hawkins at the end of Season 3.

The clip was released to celebrate Stranger Things Day, November 6—the day Will Byers disappeared, marking the beginning of it all.

The clip starts with Eleven’s voiceover narrating a letter that she’s written to Mike. El wants Mike to know that everything’s perfect in sunny California, where she moved 185 days ago. We see El place a paper-mâché figure of Hopper in front of a tiny model of their house.

(Pain, so much pain.)

She tells Mike that she is happy, has many friends, and isn’t alone, but as the video progresses, we see that it’s the opposite of what’s happening.

El ends the letter by assuring Mike that they’re going to have “the best spring break ever.” Now, I know that ‘best’ is a subjective feeling but the tiny glimpses that flashed by after that sentence seem far from it.

There are guns shooting through windows, Joyce receiving a creepy doll in a package, black cars, and police vans, men in suits restraining Eleven, helicopters, explosions, a strange character standing in front of a burning pile with dead bodies in lab coats lying around, oh and there’s Murray Bauman too!

The video description reads ‘004/004,’ meaning it’s the last one of these teasers and that the next clip we get is probably going to be a full-length trailer.

Netflix also released the episode titles and announced the tentative release date for Season 4:

  • THE HELLFIRE CLUB
  • VECNA’S CURSE
  • THE MONSTER AND THE SUPERHERO
  • DEAR BILLY
  • THE NINA PROJECT
  • THE DIVE
  • THE MASSACRE AT HAWKINS LAB
  • PAPA
  • THE PIGGYBACK

The titles that caught the most attention were ‘Dear Billy’ and ‘Papa.’ However, neither of these characters can possibly return unless, of course, the Demogorgons have learned how to shapeshift.

My bet is on these two episodes consisting of flashbacks with Billy and Dr. Brenner in them, perhaps to give Eleven/Max some sort of closure.

The Stranger Things official Twitter account added some more fuel to the fire by tweeting about the ‘Dear Billy’ title.

The text in the title teaser clip reads, “In the spring of 1986, the adventure continues…” before we finally get what we’ve been waiting for as a title card reads ‘Summer 2022.’

On a side note, it was kind of hilarious to see that Will, El, and Mike have all grown taller and look much older, thanks to puberty and the almost-3-year gap between Season 3 and Season 4, when the time jump is only supposed to take us 6 months ahead.
