There are a total of six rebel camps spread throughout the map of Horizon Forbidden West. Exploring all rebel camps and consequently helping Erend kill Asera unleashes the “Defeated Asera” medal.
Fortunately, you can find all the rebel camps either through quests or after completing the story in free-roam mode. Moreover, none of the camps are missable.
You can find the rebel camps of Horizon Forbidden West spread throughout the region of Cinnabar Sands. They’re present particularly in Eastern Lie, the Hive, Devil’s Grasp, Fenrise, Breached Rock, and Forged Fire.
Once you clear the first five rebel camps, tracking the sixth one is possible by navigating the Quests tab and selecting First Forge under the Rebel Camps option. As a result, players obtain a waypoint to converse with Erend in the desert located south of the map. Then, they’ve to help him clean up the last rebel camp to receive the “Defeated Asera” trophy.
Every rebel camp demands players to destroy its leader, scan a few clues in the command center and destroy several items. Upon completion, the camp icon turns from blue to green which you can monitor under the Quest tab.
Here’s a guide to clean up all the rebel camps in Horizon Forbidden West, along with their locations.
1Rebel Camp – Eastern Lie
Location – Northwest of Barren Light and above Relic Ruins: No Man’s Land
A locked main gate greets players when players arrive at this camp. Hence, they need to circle around the hill to enter through the right side of the camp.
Then, you have to climb up the rocks in the northwest region of the camp to come across the camp leader. Upon meeting him, players need to defeat the leader, scan for a clue by pressing R3 and interact once they find it. Repeat the same process for the two clues that spawn next.
Lastly, demolish the blaze canisters located in the northeast end of the camp behind the fast travel point. Additionally, gamers can shoot the canisters from a distance.
2Rebel Camp – The Hive
Location – South of Scalding Spear and southeast of Tallneck: The Shining Wastes
In this camp, players need to demolish four piles of weapon caches, which you can scan for by pressing R3. They’ll carry a yellow mark in order to grab attention during searches.
The first pile is inside an establishment at the center of the camp, slightly on the right. However, the second pile is in a central building on the left entrance from the camp. Besides, both the piles are on the bottom floor of the buildings.
The third pile is nearby the campfire fast travel point, while the last pile requires you to shoot the red lock of the yellow ladder adjacent to the campfire fast travel point.
Also, murder the camp leader who’ll be present up the hill near the fourth weapon cache. Scan all clues in the command center, the area you kill the leader, by pressing R3 next.
3Rebel Camp – Devil’s Grasp
Location – Southwest corner of the Stillsands and in between the ruins of a Horus machine
For starters, progress to the west of the camp and demolish the “Override Equipment” resembling an enormous power transformer. You can highlight it by holding R3.
Now, go to the southernmost point of the camp and drop down into a pit with three opponents, including the camp leader. Next, you’ll have to murder them all, loot the leader and search for the necessary clues.
4Rebel Camp – Fenrise
Location – Southeast of Fall’s Edge and near Raintrace East
The leader of this camp resides in the southern area and boasts heavy security.
You’ll have to kill him and scan for clues in the location of his spawn, the command center. Eventually, move to the north part of the camp in order to clear out the rebels. Furthermore, a few allies will appear to help you in the process.
Lastly, converse with the squad leader to complete this camp.
5Rebel Camp – Breached Rock
Location – North of Sky’s Sentry
Upon entering the camp from the main gate, murder the armored opponent with a blue energy shield. Then, look for a bunker key on his body.
You need to drop down the pit at the center of the camp and head down the path leading into the ruins. Use the bunker key on a console to open the bunker behind the wooden barricades. Consequently, enter inside and defeat the leader, scan for clues and interact with them.
In the end, initialize the console to cause a blast in the bunker, following which you’ll teleport back outside.
Once you successfully complete the first five rebel camps, the sixth camp, First Forge, will appear on your Quest Log.
6Rebel Camp – First Forge
Location – Provided by Erend
Go to the starting point of the quest at the Hidden Ember settlement in the deserted area south of the map.
After reaching, talk to Erend as he’ll provide you with the exact location of the camp. Head to the precise location and interact with the campfire to enter the camp with Erend.
As the penultimate step, players need to defeat a few enemies, interact with a door and follow Asera in order to fight her.
Once you kill her, loot her legendary hunter bow, the Sun Scourge, and start conversing with Erend. When the cutscene ends, you’ll receive the “Defeated Asera” trophy as a reward.
