On January 22, Paramount Pictures released a press statement announcing the delay of several movies.
Some highly-awaited movies were pushed farther than expected. At the same time, fans got a glimpse into some new releases, with Erik Davis of Fandango and Rotten Tomatoes tweeting the new release dates.
An untitled animated movie for Transformers is on the list and all set for a July 19, 2024 release. The film naturally has the fans excited, with multiple trying to figure out which movie it might be.
It can be the long-talked-about Transformers prequel, for which Toy Story 4 director Josh Cooley was recruited in April 2020. Paramount first revealed the project way back in 2015.
Reportedly, the new prequel was set to be an origin story for Autobots and Decepticons, with a similar setting to Michael Bay’s feature films.
Transformers has been an essential franchise for Paramount Pictures. Their latest live-action movie, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, was also delayed from 2022 to June 9, 2023.
The animated movies have a loyal following, and the official news of a Transformers animation has many fans ecstatic.
On the other hand, the delays of Mission: Impossible 7 and 8 have ignited disgruntled reactions.
Mission: Impossible 7 is pushed to June 14, 2023, while the eighth installment is pushed to June 28, 2024. Despite multiple production hurdles, MI7 wrapped filming in September last year and was due for a release this year.
The Quiet Place spinoff has also been pushed back to a few months. The original release date was March 2023, but it will now be released in September 2023.
Meanwhile, other movies such as Secret Headquarters and the animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie were moved back up a couple of weeks. Under the Boardwalk, starring Lorene Scafaria and David Dobkin, was removed from the release schedule.
No reasons or details for the movies were announced. The press release only focused on the new delayed release dates.
