Telltale Games is finally back with an exciting new adventure that will take players into the universe of The Expanse. The game is a prequel to the Amazon Prime series of the same name, which ended in 2022, and the events of the game will take place before the show’s first season.
The first episode of The Expanse: A Telltale Series is set to release on July 27, 2023, with four additional episodes releasing every two weeks. These five episodes will make up the first season, and a bonus episode will be featured in the Deluxe Edition of the game.

Even though the characters in the game are based on the books of the same name, the game will follow the show. If you’ve watched the show, then you can expect to see some familiar faces.
II. Do you need to watch The Expanse to play the game?
You do not need to watch The Expanse Amazon series to play the game, as it takes place before the show’s first season, so you’ll be able to start fresh.
But if you’ve watched the show, then you’ll be able to get more out of the game, as it’ll feature some characters from the series. This was confirmed by the FAQ on the game’s official website.
III. How will the gameplay of The Expanse work?
The gameplay of The Expanse will be like an evolved version of the traditional Telltale gameplay, with more areas to navigate and explore and new gameplay mechanics like Zero-G flight, magnetic boots, and more.
It’s the most ambitious Telltale game yet, and the devs themselves described the gameplay as the “most immersive exploration of any Telltale game to date.” Not only conversation choices but also things you discover while playing through the episodes will affect the entire story and its outcome.
IV. Which platform is The Expanse releasing on?
The Expanse is set to release on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via the Epic Games Store. It will not be released on the Nintendo Switch.
It’s also worth noting that the PC version of the game is exclusive to the Epic Games Store only for the first year of release. It’ll be available elsewhere on PC starting next year, but for now, the Epic Games Store is the way to go.
V. How much is The Expanse: A Telltale Series?
The Standard Edition of The Expanse: A Telltale Series costs $39.99, and the Deluxe Edition of the game costs $44.99. The Deluxe Edition costs more as it includes a bonus episode in addition to the base five.
