Vessel of Hatred will take players to a completely new region called Nahantu, also known as, Torajan Jungles in the game. This region has previously featured in Diablo 2 Act 3. Thus, veteran Diablo fans may feel familiar with the place.

The DLC will expand the present Diablo 4 map with a territory to the southwest because this is a wild jungle area that exists within the Diablo storyline in Sanctuary, to the south of Kehjistan.

4. Vessel of Hatred Storyline Takes Place After Diablo 4 Campaign

The DLC storyline is a continuation of Diablo 4. We see during the main campaign that Mephisto, the Lord of Hatred is captured in a soulstone by Neyrelle. She then ventures out of the Sanctuary to protect it from the corruption of the soulstone, and if possible, then destroy the soulstone.

The opening cinematics of the Vessel of Hatred latest trailer shows Neyrelle on a canoe fighting a mental, and spiritual battle with the dark powers of the soul stone, which is oozing out black goo, clearly portraying that it cannot hold Mephisto for long.

Soon, Mephisto tries to trick Neyrelle, however, she fights back and at the end we see her reaching the forests of Nahantu, the region where the entire storyline of Vessel of Hatred is supposed to take place.

Therefore, it can be assumed that the storyline of the game will involve Neyrelle battle with her mind and faith throughout the DLC, while Mephisto will try to break out of the soul stone and he will himself be the final boss for this DLC.

During the trailer, Neyrelle also mentions the tomb of Akarat, which is located in Nahantu. However, it is not confirmed why she is looking for that tomb. It is possible that the tomb holds an item that could possibly destroy the soul stone, putting an end to Mephisto.

5. A Brand New Never-Before-Seen Class

The Vessel of Hatred will introduce a new class to the game, named Spiritborn. Its description reads as:

“The Spiritborn, apex predator of the jungle, is poised to strike. Battle with styles and mystical synergies that could only be awakened deep beneath the jungle’s canopy with an entirely new class to the iconic Diablo series.”

The official page also mentions that more details about this class will be revealed on July 18th. As of now, there are no details available about the abilities of this new class.
