Summertime “Herogasm” Anyone? The Boys S3 Release Schedule Out

The Boys season 3 has finally received an official release date. In a recent tweet, the official Twitter account for the show revealed a teaser for the upcoming season and confirmed the release date for June 3, 2022.

The teaser showcases Homelander (Anthony Starr) and Starlight (Erin Moriarty) posing in front of the media, while Ashley Barret (Colbie Minifie) looks on in barely-veiled trepidation. Although Starlight looks smug, the same cannot be said for the lead antagonist.

Homelander, the key antagonist, is a major part of the teaser and is portraying a range of emotions: fear, anger, jitters, and a deteriorating composure. The fact that he finally cracks at the end, along with the peculiar wording of the caption, shows that the upcoming season will definitely up the already-high ante.

The official handle also released the episodic schedule for The Boys season 3. Set to premiere three episodes simultaneously on June 3, 2022, the following episodes will be aired weekly, every Friday. The season finale will air on July 8.

Additionally, the sixth episode, “Herogasm,” will be a special one. As per the lore, the event is an annual event that is backed by Vought. For the unaware, it is a special day when the company actively promotes an unrestricted and mass orgy of the Superheroes, or, lovingly called, Supes.

The fact that The Boys is a creation for adults has been known since the start. And yet, creator Eric Kripke’s statement, “the craziest thing anyone’s ever done,” clearly implies that the amount of nudity and sexual content that had been featured before, will be easily bested in that key episode.

Unsurprisingly, the success of the live-action The Boys can also be attributed to the cult status of the comics.

While the show does not deviate significantly from the comics, fans are aware that season 2’s critical character, Stormfront (Aya Cash) was male in the source material, signifying a major change.

About The Boys

The Boys is an American satirical superhero streaming television series developed by Eric Kripke for Prime Video. Based on the comic book of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, which was originally published by DC Comics under their Wildstorm imprint before moving to Dynamite Entertainment, it follows the eponymous team of vigilantes as they combat superpowered individuals who abuse their abilities.

The show is a satirical take on the superhero genre and showcases a world where superheroes are corporatized and controlled by companies. What happens when these superheroes step out of line and rub some boys the wrong way, is the story.
