The Wilds is finally returning for a season 2 so everyone who went, “Wait, what was that?” during the season 1 finale will at last get the answers to all of their burning questions.
Prime Video announced the return date for the series’ new season on Tuesday along with the first look at eight new teenage boys added to the cast.
Season 2 of the YA series has a premiere date set for May 6. Prime Video has teased an ‘even higher stakes’ for the girls as they remain trapped on a mysterious island with the boys joining them on the ‘dystopian slumber party.’
The synopsis for season 2 adds that ‘the harrowing ordeal’ for the girls will continue on the deserted island, as they continue to be a part of an elaborate secret social experiment.
The new season ratchets up the drama by revealing that the girls aren’t the only ones being studied… there’s a new set of subjects, an island of teenage boys, who must also fight for survival under the watchful eye of the experiment’s puppet master.
Prime Video also revealed 16 photos of the eight teenage boys, played by newcomers Alex Fitzalan, Nicholas Coombe, Reed Shannon, Aidan Laprete, Zack Calderon, Charles Alexander, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, and Tanner Ray Rook as they join the series regulars.
Season 1 of The Wilds ended with Leah discovering that an all-male group called ‘Twilight of Adam’ went through the same thing the girls did.
The photos suggest, similar to the synopsis, that the girls in the ‘Dawn of Eve’ group will come together with the boys to figure out who the master behind this whole scheme is.
In an interview with Collider post season 1 finale, creator Sarah Streicher and showrunner Amy B. Harris had talked about what the future holds for the groups.
Harris said that they have a ‘very good blueprint’ and have tried to build a structure for the story. Whereas, Streicher added that they do have a good idea of where each girl will land when this experience is over.
The Wilds returns for season 2 exclusively on Prime Video on May 6.
