The new Max Harry Potter TV series now has a release window, so we can get a fair idea of when each season will be released.
The new series promises to be a more faithful adaptation of J.K Rowling’s popular book series and will span almost a decade. Warner Bros. Discovery has begun meeting with potential writers and revealed that they plan to come up with season 1 sometime in 2026.
The TV remake is a much-awaited project for Potterheads as we can see many moments from the books not included in the Warner Bros films. Moreover, technology has evolved a lot since the 2000s, so each episode can be closer to the magical world of Harry Potter.
However, Warner Bros will face several challenges during the making of the show. Most importantly, they must live up to the massive expectations and win over the nostalgia factor. They are working on a limited timeline, so things will have to proceed quickly.
As of now, very little information is available about the TV series and its making. When each season drops, it depends on multiple factors, such as the availability of actors, the technology aspect, and estimated production time.
We can assume that the series will have at least 7 seasons, with each season focusing on one Harry Potter book. As per the original films’ timeline and a calculated guess, here’s a potential timeline for the release of all 7 seasons of the Harry Potter series.
Season | Based On | Estimated Release Date |
Season 1 | Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone | 2026 |
Season 2 | Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets | 2027 |
Season 3 | Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban | 2028 |
Season 4 | Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire | 2031 |
Season 5 | Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix | 2033 |
Season 6 | Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince | 2035 |
Season 7 | Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows | 2037 |
As per the films, each Harry Potter film was released with a gap of one to two years. However, the series might take a while to develop, given that it is much vaster in nature and needs more time to film.
The first three seasons could be released in 2026, 2027, and 2028, respectively, as they are simpler to adapt and do not require as much CGI work as the other films. These are less complex compared to the rest of the books.
Moreover, they cannot delay each season too much because of the cast’s age. The trio, Harry, Ron, and Hermione, should look their age. For this reason, Warner Bros made sure the films did not have a gap of more than two years between their release.
To make it more magical, Warner Bros. can release the first season on September 1, 2026, the date when the Hogwarts Express usually leaves Platform 9 and ¾ for Hogwarts. July 31 can be another date, as it is Harry Potter’s birthday.
