It began with the usual setup of rich people going on super-rich vacations, but slowly delved into their unsaid words, repressed emotions, and buried skeletons. The trailer had two fascinating aspects to it. The first one was its background score. The pacing and the composition accentuated what the visuals were conveying and instantly stirred the curiosity within me. The pacing was incredible and progressed until it went on a high and ends on a bang.

The second one was the dynamic between the hotel staff and the guests. Sure, there were quite a few secrets amongst the guest families themselves, but there seemed to be a lot of tension between the resort staff and the guests.

The White Lotus miniseries was released on 11 July 2021 and is available for streaming on HBO Max. It is a social satire that follows the vacation of a few guests at a Hawaiian resort over a span of one week.

The first episode premiered last week, and it was every bit of a satire as I expected it to be. The guests are a family of two parents and two young adults accompanied with one of their friends, a middle-aged woman, and a couple on honeymoon.

The different people within the family have a few little issues with themselves. The middle-aged woman seems to have come on a vacation to find herself and be a little less alone. Finally, the honeymoon couple doesn’t have the best start to their honeymoon.

The staff includes two main characters who seem to be almost done with the vanity of the elite, their demands, and just how privileged and spoilt they are. How all these characters interact with each other and how the story unfolds is the story.
