Killing Eve’s Ayoola Smart to Play Aviendha in Wheel of Time Season 2

Prime Video’s The Wheel of Time has added a Wise One to its cast for Season 2 as actress Ayoola Smart joins the series in the role of Aviendha.

In the world of The Wheel of Time, Aviendha is a Wise One of the Nine Valleys sept of the Taardad Aiel and one of the three lovers of Rand al’Thor.

The announcement was made by executive producer Rafe Judkins at a panel for the show at JordanCon 2022.

Smart is the latest addition to the cast in a recurring role, following the casting of Guy Roberts as Uno Nomeshta, Arnas Fedaravicius as Mesema, Gregg Chillingirian as Ingtar Shinowa, Ceara Coveney as Elayne Trakand, and Natasha O’Keeffe and Meera Syal as “two of the most important characters in the series.”

Smart’s previous works include BBC America’s Killing Eve, where she played Audrey in Season 3.

No further details were announced. The second season for the fantasy adaptation of Robert Jordan’s books is currently in production.

When Season 1 reached its finale in December 2021, Judkins promised that all the characters introduced in the first season would be explored more deeply and extensively,

“Yeah, all of the characters will really [get] the deep dive. Season 1 was so much about the characters all moving together in a group. In a TV show, it can be really tough to feel like you’re getting to know people when they’re all in a group together. So, Season 2, getting to split them each off on their own and find out who they really are and what light and dark exists inside them, I think it’s my favorite thing about Season 2 so far, is seeing each of those actors really start to come into their own.”

Season 1 premiered in November 2021, and Amazon wasted no time in announcing its return. However, it won’t be until after The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power makes its debut on Prime Video.
