What’s New? Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Patch 3.0 Update Explained

It hasn’t even been a month since Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 launched. However, players are still riding high, living life as a Space Marine. Saber Interactive has also been consistently putting out updates to make the gaming experience even more enjoyable. Let’s take a dive into the latest Patch 3.0 update.

Important Changes in Patch 3.0

Here are the major features introduced in Space Marine 2’s latest Patch 3.0: 

  • Private PvE lobbies for Operations
  • Hub Sparring Arena in the Battlebarge
  • What’s New/Message of the Day Boards
  • Ultrawide Support for PC
  • Custom Color Palettes can now be reset

Patch 3.0 is more focused on adding quality-of-life updates. Minor issues like long queue times, easier access to announcements, and such are now taken care of. These changes will make the game much better in an all-rounded manner, persuading players to stick around.

Balance Changes

Balancing is always a subject of discussion in an online game. There is always something which needs to be nerfed or a buff to be added. Space Marine 2 has introduced a few changes to make the playing field level.

Weapons/Gear Changes

  • Powerfist charged attack damage has been massively increased.
  • Heavy Plasma has had it’s base ammo increased by 5, base damage buffed by 10%, and overheat per shoot drastically decreased from 50 to 30 for charged shoots and from 20 to 15 for base shooting.
  • Aux grenade launcher can be partially replenished with ammo boxes instead of just the infinite ammo crate.

PVE AI Changes

  • AI allies have received multiple changes making them more helpful/effective, without making them so powerful that they win the game for the player.
  • Zoanthrope’s psychic scream attack has received several nerfs to make it more fair.
  • Termagant’s fleshborer spray attack has been nerfed.
  • Tyranid Warrior (Devourer Variant) projectile damage has been nerfed.
  • Rubric Marine (Warpfire Variant) has had damage reduced across the board and health decreased by 10%.
  • Rubric Marine (Boltgun Variant) had damage and health decreased, as well as a decrease in their teleport frequency.
  • Tzaangor with Shield has had health greatly reduced.
  • Carnifex becomes faster and more aggressive in rage mode, doesn’t taunt as often, and has had a bug fix involving its projectiles not firing.
  • Hive Tyrant got a health buff and is now 20% more resistant to explosives/melta weapons.

About Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2

Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 2 is a third-person shooter hack and slash developed by Saber Interactive. The gameplay involves fighting Tyranid hordes while interchanging between melee and shooting attacks to defend the Imperium.

Apart from the thrilling single-player campaign, the game also offers a unique cooperative mode named Operations, and three 6v6 competitive multiplayer modes called Annihilation, Seize Ground, and Capture and Control.
