Amanda Waller’s Arc Remains Incomplete at the End of Peacemaker

Peacemaker season 1 finale left a few things open-ended. A few characters, such as Peacemaker and Judomaster, have their challenges to deal with and what will happen to them next remains to be unknown.

One other character whose arc didn’t get closure was Amanda Waller. The character who was a critical part of this mission didn’t appear in the series, except a couple of times. Towards the end of the episode, we see Leota Adebayo, Waller’s daughter, expose her, A.R.G.U.S, and its operations, asking the government to look into the institution and take actions against it.

This leaves Waller stumped, and that’s the last we see of her in Peacemaker season 1. So the question remains, what will happen to her next?

Amanda Waller is known to be a vindictive woman who lacks morality. She will likely seek revenge against all members of Task Force X, including her daughter, Adebayo, in the upcoming spin-off series or Peacemaker season 2.

At the beginning of Peacemaker, we see all members of Task Force X being disappointed with their office, the equipment they received, and how little they had to accomplish a new mission. They mention that this is Amanda Waller’s way of getting back at them for disobeying her during the mission of Corto Maltese in The Suicide Squad.

This showcases the lengths Waller can go to teach people working under her a lesson for betraying her trust. She has no morals and only cares about the mission at hand. Even in Peacemaker, she had asked Adebayo to plant the fake diary in Peacemaker’s trailer so that he could be used as a scapegoat at the end of the mission.

Now that the world knows Waller’s true colors and A.R.G.U.S as an institution is exposed, we can expect two things to happen. In front of the world, the organization will dissolve. However, this wouldn’t be the end of Waller since she knows how to get back up and somehow get the tide to flow in her favor. So Waller might start working independently or create another secret organization with the government.

But no matter what Waller does, one thing’s for sure. She will come after Task Force X with a sweet plot of revenge and show no mercy to her daughter. After all, she gave her daughter the job as a favor, who then betrayed her.

HBO Max has confirmed a season 2, which means we might either see more of Waller, or she would work as an off-screen presence who will disrupt the lives of the Task Force X members. The details of Peacemaker season 2 haven’t been released yet, so only time will tell us how involved she is with season 2 and what her significance in it will be.
