What To Expect In Chapter 424 After Shocking Turn of Events In My Hero Academia

In My Hero Academia chapter 423, we finally reach the climax of the final war. The previous chapter marked the conclusion to the long-running battle of One For All and All For One. The war that lasted generations finally ended with Deku and Shigaraki.

While the build-up to the final scene had fans anticipating every new chapter, the conclusion has garnered varying reactions. After the death of the series’ main antagonist, Shigaraki Tomura, the conclusion leaves a weird taste in people’s mouths.

What To Expect From Chapter 424

Shigaraki’s Rushed Conclusion

Shigaraki’s death was not out of the left field. In fact, many even predicted this outcome for the story. However, the execution of his death has got the fandom feeling confused and on the edge of their seats. We need definitive answers to justify everything that went down in chapter 423 of My Hero Academia.

In the final conversation between Deku and Shigaraki, when they finally face each other, Shigaraki supposedly dies. This was quite an anticlimactic end to the battle and has only left us feeling confused about Shigaraki’s fate.

If Shigaraki truly did simply disintegrate into thin air and die, then this would make for a very underwhelming end to his story and would not do justice to everything he is. Horikoshi gave all the major villains, like All For One, Dabi, and Toga, their own conclusions, while Shigaraki got none of his own, which is really upsetting.

That said, hopefully, chapter 424 will explain Shigaraki’s story better and will do justice to his character. As of now, the only conclusion that can be inferred is that Shigaraki has died. However, all the events leading up to his death don’t do justice to him at all.

Deku’s Potential Quirkless Future

Chapter 424 might confirm what exactly happened to Shigaraki and, by extension, All for One. On top of this, we still need to find out whether Deku is confirmed to stay quirkless for the rest of the series and the rest of his life.

Deku’s final attack was to forcefully transfer and weaponize One For All. While the plan was successful, it has rendered Deku quirkless. There has been no explicit mention of Deku’s quirklessness or any acknowledgment of it, but we should expect some answers from the next chapter.

One For All’s Fate

The purpose of One For All has been fulfilled with its death. An angle that can be played is that now that the past users have received their salvation by destroying All For One, they might cease to exist. The question is whether the quirk of One For All remains or not.

Currently, the biggest question for the fandom is whether Deku will get One For All back. There is a possibility that he’ll get his quirk back but will no longer be able to see or communicate with the previous users or use their individual quirks anymore, which is honestly the better alternative.

Another option is that One For All will cease to exist as the purpose of the quirk has been fulfilled. If this is the turn the story takes, the next question will be whether Deku stays Quirkless but still fulfills his dream of becoming a Pro Hero or end his hero career after technically saving the world, which is the biggest feat a hero can achieve.

Will Anything Change For Deku and Shigaraki?

However, this ending may be too shonen hopes and dreams even for a mainstream shonen like My Hero Academia. Not just Deku’s conclusion but even Shigaraki’s fate lies in the next chapter. If Horikoshi decides to stick with the current ending, it might be another undeserving good story bad ending moment.

However, there is one thing for sure—the war is finally over, and the heroes have won. We should expect tearful reunions of the young heroes with their families and teachers and many hospital scenes. After two years of nonstop battles, one after the other, our heroes can finally rest easy—unless Horikoshi decides to throw them in the ring again.
