Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl is an immersive post-apocalyptic experience of exploration and tough decisions. Among its many features, weapons are pivotal in surviving the Zone’s harsh environment.
The Drowned rifle, a unique AKM with dual magazines and a grenade launcher is one such find that raises an important question: should you keep it?
1. Where is the Drowned Gun located in Stalker 2?
The Drowned gun is found near Boo, a character that a pond can find. The weapon can be seen leaning against a ruined concrete slab on the edge of Boo’s pond.
The map above shows the exact location; the pond is outside the Slag Heap in the Garbage region. Behind Seven Seals mission has to be completed to get there.
Boo will refuse and protest about the retrieval of the gun, but in reality, the weapon is extremely easy to access, and it’s not submerged in water as its name might suggest.
When you find the weapon, the game offers a classic Stalker 2 dilemma: do you return the weapon to its owner or keep it yourself?
2. Why is this an important choice?
Weapons in Stalker 2 are more than just tools; they are lifelines. Every encounter against mutants, rival Stalkers, or the Zone requires careful preparation.
Choosing the right gun can mean the difference between survival and failure. Unique weapons like the Drowned rifle offer exciting capabilities but often come with challenges that players must weigh carefully.
3. Should You Keep the Drowned Gun?
There are two options the players face: to keep the Drowned Gun or to return it. It would be best if you kept the gun, and this is why-
- Boo Offers No Reward: Returning the weapon yields no compensation, and there is no disadvantage or penalty if you decide to keep it.
- Unique Features: The gun’s dual magazines allow for faster reloads, and its under-barrel grenade launcher adds a layer of versatility.
4. Drawbacks of Drowned Gun
- Limited Early Use: Without repairs and ammunition, Drowned is more of a liability than an asset during the game’s early stages.
- Costly Repair: Drowned starts with zero durability, making it unusable without costly repairs. Fixing it will set you back 11,500 coupons, an extremely high price in the early game.
- Rarity Consumption: The grenade launcher requires VOG-25 grenades, which aren’t easy to find. Managing these is difficult during the early stages.
Drowned’s unique attachments and high potential make it worth keeping, but it’s not viable for players in the game’s early stages. Store it when you’ve accumulated enough resources to repair and upgrade it.
