Every new Pokemon game introduces a new generation of Pokemon. Along with the new generation of adorable pocket monsters, we get to see new legendaries as well.
GameFreak introduced Koraidon and Miraidon as the two legendary lizard-like Pokemon that will accompany you throughout your adventure in Scarlet and Violet. Koraidon will be a Pokemon exclusive to only Pokemon Scarlet, while Miraidon will be a Pokemon Violet exclusive.
The types and lore of both of the legendaries haven’t been revealed yet. It’s possible that either of these legendaries might be water-type, since Paldea is a coastal region surrounded by water.
On the other hand, it’s quite possible that Koraidon represents the past, since Korai means ‘past’. Similarly, Miraidon might be linked to the future, because Mirai means ‘future’.
What are Koraidon’s and Miraidon’s powers?
The powers and types of Koraidon and Miraidon haven’t been announced yet. However, unlike other Pokemon games, these legendaries will transform into different forms. The official trailer shows that you can even use these forms as mounts to travel across Paldea!
Koraidon and Miraidon can transform into three forms as mounts to help you adventure across rivers, mountains, deserts, and all sorts of rugged terrain.
I. Koraidon’s mount forms
- Sprinting build: Koraidon transforms into a motorcycle-like form, but instead of using its wheels, it uses its four powerful legs to sprint.
- Swimming build: Koraidon uses its inflated throat to float on the water. Then, it spreads a membrane through its webbed toes and uses them to paddle through the water, just like a duck.
- Gliding build: Koraidon transforms the colorful tendrils on its head into wings, so it can glide through the vast skies of Paldea.
II. Miraidon’s mount forms
- Drive mode: Miraidon transforms its throat and tail into fluorescent blue wheels, and uses those wheels to accelerate through roads and plains.
- Aquatic mode: Miraidon uses its wheels to move forward, similar to its Drive mode. However, you can also use the jet engines on its legs to move forward as well.
- Glide mode: Miraidon uses the antennae on its head to glide through the skies, just like Koraidon. Its antennae transform into a membrane of energy to act like wings.
Will Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have mega evolution?
Mega Evolutions were first introduced in Pokemon X and Y, and it’s one of the most beloved game mechanics that remains popular even to this day. Fans have been wondering whether Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will bring back this game mechanic.
However, all the news from leakers regarding mega evolutions has been disappointing so far.
Unfortunately, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet won’t have mega evolutions. Centro Leaks, one of the biggest leakers in the Pokemon community, confirmed in June 2022 that mega evolutions won’t be coming back. Mega Evolutions will be replaced by Terastallization instead.
What is Terrastalization in Scarlet and Violet?
Terastallization is a game mechanic where you can activate the Tera type of your Pokemon. Each Pokemon will have a Tera type, which will be different from its actual type. By using a Tera orb, you can Terastallize your Pokemon once every battle.
There are 18 Tera types in Scarlet and Violet so far.
Pokemons will glow like beautiful gemstones once you Terastallize them. A gemstone will appear on the top of their heads like a crown. The attacks of Terrastalized Pokemons are much stronger than regular Pokemons, so use them a lot!
