The second episode of Demon Slayer Season 4 was released on 16th April and provided us with some vital information. The episode gave us a little more insight into Mist Hashira and his aloof personality while introducing a mechanical doll called Yoruichi Type Zero.
It is revealed to be modeled after a real person and seems to be connected with many major events of the series. So, let’s unravel the mystery behind Yoruichi Type Zero!
Yoruichi Type Zero is a mechanical doll that was modeled after the swordsman Yoruichi Tsugikuni. The doll was used to train the Demon slayers and the sword inside belonged to Yoruichi Tsugikuni who was the progenitor of all breathing techniques.
Swordsmith Village: Events of Episode 2
The events of Episode 2 begin with Tanjiro finding a young kid having a squabble with Mist Hashira. They seem to be fighting over some “key”. It is eventually revealed that the Mist Hashira wants a key to the mechanical doll called Yoruichi Type Zero.
Yoruichi Type Zero is a doll made by the young kid, Kotetsu’s ancestors and he is not willing to part with the doll as he does not feel adequate to fix it. He however ends up giving the key to Mist Hashira for practice.
The Mist Hashira snaps the hand of the mechanical doll which greatly disappoints Kotetsu and Tanjiro. After a little consolation from Tanjiro, Kotetsu decides to avenge the Mist Hashira and starts training Tanjiro with the mechanical doll.
Kotetsu also reveals that the doll was modeled after a real swordsman. It has six arms(now five since the Mist Hashira broke an arm) and two arms were not sufficient to replicate the moments of the swordsman it was modeled after!
Over a few days, Tanjiro trains with the doll and manages to defeat the doll. He cracks open Yoruichi Type Zero to find a 300-year-old hidden inside!!
What is the sword found inside Yoruichi Type Zero?
During the episode, we learn that the Yoruichi Type Zero was modeled after a famous swordsman and Tanjiro seems to recognize his face. The face belongs to the swordsman called Yoruichi Tsugikuni.
Yoruichi Tsugikuni is not an ordinary swordsman but the founder of Sun Breathing which gave birth to every other breathing style. He was an excellent swordsman that was able to make Muzan quiver at the mere sight of his earrings.
He was widely regarded as one of the strongest swordsmen that has ever seen the face of the world. You need to keep following the anime to know the exact connection between this great man and Muzan as it would spoil way too much if revealed!
The three centuries-old katana found in the Yoriichi Type Zero doll is Yoriichi Tsugikuni’s original Blade. It is a black Nichirin Blade and is the strongest sword in the whole series.
