Cyberpunk 2077 is all about futuristic tech, and modern weapons, but some of the best melee weapons you can wield are the deadly Katanas.
The masterfully crafted blades are capable of slashing your enemies with clean and precise cuts dealing a massive amount of damage. They are agile, deadly, and elegant, and the perfect weapon to end the suffering of your miserable foes.
In Cyberpunk 2077, you can find at least 7 different katanas to choose from, each one with its specialty. So, I have decided to make a list of the best katanas in the game and how to find them.
7Standard Katana
The Standard Katana is your basic Katana. It’s a solid early-game melee weapon, and is capable of dishing out highly reliable damage. The Katana also offers a high Critical hit chance which is always a plus.
The Katana is capable of 4.75 hits per second which makes it quite rapid and is also available in different rarities such as epic and legendary. At the legendary level, you can upgrade the katana with mods to deal chemical, electrical, and thermal damage. This makes the weapon even more viable.
How to get it? You can obtain this katana by looting enemies who drop it or purchasing it from weapon vendors. To buy the legendary variant of the weapon, you can get it from Coach Fred at the Mega Building in H10 in Little China. You can even simply craft it.
6Cocktail Stick
The Cocktail Stick is a very stylish pink blade, which is capable of slashing through enemies with ease. It comes with a base damage of 260 and a DPS of 1300 and is capable of 5 hits per second making it one of the best melee weapons.
The blade is powerful and can apply bleeding effects, dismemberment and decapitation and can also boost physical and critical damage making it quite viable. The blade can be upgraded to epic and legendary levels.
How to get it? You can get this katana in the quest “Automatic Love”. Simply go to Evelyn’s dressing room in the clouds and you will find it there. Just remember the clouds will open after 7 pm.
5Black Unicorn
The Black Unicorn is the best-looking blade for me hands down. It’s a variant of a standard katana but is heavily inspired by the swords in Witcher 3 (one of my favourite games). It is a classic-looking sword and offers 4 slots of mods instead of 3 at legendary rarity.
It comes with a strong base of 449 damage and a high DPS of 2,249.1. It can deal massive damage to your enemies. The blade is wicked fast and will make short work of your enemies.
How to get it? Black Unicorn is already present in V’s stash if you buy the game through GOG, or you can simply link your GOG account to the game and obtain this weapon from the get-go.
4Tsumetogi
The Tsumetogi is a beautiful blade wielded by Hiromi Sato as his signature weapon. The katana is capable of 5 strikes per second with a base damage of 265, and with a DPS of 1326.5, Tsumetogi is a hard-hitting weapon.
The blade offers you 10% resistance against electrical damage all the while boosting its electrical damage. It also gives a small chance of applying shock to your enemies which is great against multiple enemies. The Katana also boosts your damage dealt through combos and heavy attacks. The Tsumetogi is certainly a blade worthy of your consideration.
The Katana can be upgraded to both epic and legendary rarity.
How to get it? To get this Katana, you must complete the “Pisces Side Job”. When Judy calls you to go meet her, you will go meet a group of people in Mega Building H8, ride the elevator to the roof and jump to the glass room. The you will head inside Maiko’s office, complete the meeting and you will find the Katana lying there somewhere. Be sure to grab it before leaving the office.
3Scalpel
The Scalpel is a sleek carbon fiber katana that can deal massive damage to any type of opponent as it can deal all types of elemental damage. The blade comes with a base attack of 302 and a DPS of 1513.2, making it a very formidable weapon.
The katana is also capable of inflicting Electrical damage, Chemical damage, Physical damage, and Thermal damage. It can also apply bleed and provides a 50% chance of critical damage (only when Sandevistan cyber wave ability is active) making it viable in any circumstance. Moreover, the blade also offers a 20% chance of applying shock status making it easier to deal with groups of enemies. The Scalpel is a great weapon with a huge potential for dishing out damage. It’s certainly one of the best katanas in the game.
How to get it? To obtain this weapon, you must complete the side job “Big in Japan”. You must first go into Afterlife in the 2nd Act to start this quest. Talk to a man named Denis, accept his quest and complete it without being discovered. The Scalpel will be given to you as your reward.
2Satori
Satori is one of the most powerful katanas if not the most powerful in the game. Its base damage is 57 (which might not sound great at first) with a DPS of 221. Where the Satori shines and the only reason it sits so above in the list is due to its unique perk.
The Satori can deal +500-600% Critical Damage, thus making the damage output around 1,105 – 1,326 per strike. This increase in damage is huge and is capable of decimating your enemies.
You can further use mods to increase its speed, and damage potential making it one of the best melee weapons in the game.
How to get it? You can get this Katana during the main storyline mission “The Heist”. The Katana can be found on the roof of the Arasaka building near the helipad. Go to the penthouse and use a window there to get to the roof and obtain Satori on the helipad.
1Jinchu Maru
The Jinchu Maru is the best katana in Cyberpunk 2077 with a speed of 5 strikes per second, base damage of 111 and a DPS of 536.9. Katana’s real power is the double damage it deals to enemies with twice the health of the player. This makes it easier to kill stronger enemies.
The last hit of the blade in a combo always deals double damage. Thus, essentially you can quadruple the damage against strong enemies. The blade also offers 100% critical hit when Kerenzikov’s cyberwar ability is active, thus, dealing even more damage.
You can further increase its stats with mods making it even more powerful. It is certainly the best katana to have in Cyberpunk 2077 in my honest opinion.
How to get it? You can obtain this deadly weapon in the quest “Play it Safe” after you defeat Sandayu Oda – the owner of the Katana. It can be further upgraded to increase its damage even more.
