6 Major Questions The Boys Season 4 Finale Must Answer

The Boys season 4 only has one more episode to go but still has several unresolved plot threads and questions to address. After having a relatively slower start compared to its predecessors, The Boys season 4 found its pace by episode 4 and began building up to a climactic conclusion.

However, even with the season’s finale around the corner, the Amazon series still has to unpack a lot before it begins its endgame with season 5.

1. What Powers does Billy Butcher have?

We got to know about Sr. Hughie’s power before Billy Butcher!!!

In The Boys season 4’s episode 4, Billy Butcher somehow overpowers Ezekiel and brutally murders him, which hints that he might still be supe. However, after the episode 4 incident, the show has maintained an air of mystery regarding how he Falcon-ed Ezekiel.

Since Butcher was temporarily a supe in The Boys season 3, he may have retained some of the abilities he initially acquired. If true, he might have super strength and throw heat beams out of his eyes.

But he’s probably gained new skills because The Boys season 4 has revealed that his capabilities are linked to his alter ego, Kessler. Since nothing about the worms under Billy Butcher’s skin has been disclosed thus far in the season, they may somehow be connected to his abilities. Hopefully, the conclusion of The Boys season 4 won’t disregard the truth behind Butcher’s enigmatic superpowers.

2. Will Hughie realize that he is romancing a shapeshifter?

Episode 7 has its share of “poor Hughie” moments, the biggest being the reveal that Starlight is a shapeshifter.

The actual Starlight, meanwhile, is incarcerated somewhere. Although the shapeshifter’s motivations are not revealed in the episode, it is clear that Sister Sage brought her on board to remove the lads’ blackmail from Neuman.

It also appears plausible that Sage intends to utilize Starlight as a pawn in a bigger strategy, given that the shapeshifter is explicitly targeting her. The mystery surrounding this plan remains unsolved; hopefully, the season finale will provide a solution.

3. Will Ryan leave Homeland?

Homelander’s kid is as unhinged as him, and we are all confused about whether he is turning into Homelander 2.0.

When Ryan confronts Vought’s executives on live television and admits he misses his mother during the holidays, Billy Butcher finds fresh hope in The Boys season 4 episode 7. Butcher is happy that Ryan stands up for himself and thinks he will eventually leave Homeland Security.

However, Ryan’s disobedience to Vought might not be as clear-cut as it first appears. In Episode 3, Homelander himself becomes increasingly unstable and irrational after disobeying Vought’s commands and realizing that no one else can control him due to his physical might.

There is a huge possibility that Ryan has already become a replica of Homeland. This could mean that Ryan will ignore Butcher’s advice in the finale, and maybe we could see him brutally kill someone. It can be a jaw-dropping ending for a finale.

4. Will the boys be able to create the virus without Sameer’s help?

We saw in Episode 7 that Sameer had difficulty trying to make the virus. (A Skill Issue or the leg chopped up part messing him; we will never know.)

The lads will need to discover another method to make the virus now that he’s gone, as they can’t murder a superhuman like Victoria Neuman without it.

Given Frenchie’s extensive background in pharmacology and his assistance to Sameer, he might replicate the virus.

5. Where is A-Train?

We are not yet ready for Homelander to beam the shit out of A-Train.

When A-Train aids the lads in defeating The Deep and the new Black Noir in The Lads season 4, episode 7, he advances on his path to redemption. But this makes him look like the mole, so he must hide before Homelander discovers the truth about his betrayal.

As a result, A-Train pays Ashley one final visit and asks if she wants to go with him. A-Train runs away when Ashley rejects the offer, perhaps taking out his monitoring chip before going to his haven.

Even though A-Train has redeemed himself by helping the boys, his arc in the series seems unlikely to be over. If Ashley lands in trouble in season 4’s finale, he might return to help her.

No, we are not setting up an A-Train and Ashley romance! (Get that out of your heads.). However, if he does return, he will have to tread carefully because Homelander will not think twice before getting him out of the way after his betrayal.

6. Will Starlight’s Powers Finally Return?

We are all waiting for Starlight vs Starlight.

Episode 7 of The Boys, which airs on April 4, offers Starlight the ideal chance to examine herself and figure out how to regain her abilities. After she conflicts with Firecracker in the earlier episodes, she doubts her desire to have superpower, ultimately losing her abilities.

She has to face her identity and reevaluate her role as a superwoman to regain her skills now that she is imprisoned in a run-down house and needs to get back there before the shapeshifter does even more harm.

However, there is also a slight possibility that she will not get her powers back, allowing the shapeshifter to continue wreaking havoc unchecked.

As all the underlying mysteries suggest, the show still has a lot to unpack in the season’s final episode. Since The Boys has another season before it ends its run for good, season 4 will likely leave some of these questions unanswered.

7. About The Boys

The Boys is an American satirical superhero streaming television series developed by Eric Kripke for Prime Video. Based on the comic book of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, which was originally published by DC Comics under their Wildstorm imprint before moving to Dynamite Entertainment, it follows the eponymous team of vigilantes as they combat superpowered individuals who abuse their abilities.

The show is a satirical take on the superhero genre and showcases a world where superheroes are corporatized and controlled by companies. What happens when these superheroes step out of line and rub some boys the wrong way, is the story.
