At its Forward showcasing event, Ubisoft officially unveiled Mirage, presenting gamers with the opportunity to speculate and create hype before the game’s release.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage is the upcoming entry into the world-famous Assassin’s Creed franchise. Although its predecessor, Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla, were massive-sized games belonging to the RPG genre, AC Mirage will be a small-scoped, action-adventure game.
As Ubisoft looks forward to adding to its ever-growing Assassin’s Creed series, the franchise fans can finally start feeling the excitement for Mirage. Although instead of introducing gamers to new characters, the developers aim to draw you into the shoes of Basim, a member of the Hidden Ones and a crucial NPC from Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, as the primary playable character.
However, contrary to what most gamers would expect, Assassin’s Creed Mirage follows Basim during his early days, which leads to him joining the Assassin’s Order. So, it’s safe to say that rumors suggesting that AC Mirage is a follow-up of AC Valhalla are not true.
Here’s all you need to know about Mirage.
1. What is the expected release date of Assassin’s Creed Mirage?
The exact release date of Assassin’s Creed Mirage is yet to be announced. However, Ubisoft is planning to release the game in 2023. Also, the game will cost in the region of $50 and will be made available to platforms like Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PC, and Amazon Luna.
Interestingly, the developers might roll out a Nintendo Switch version as they’ve done for the franchise’s other games.

3. What is the storyline of Assassin’s Creed Mirage? Where is it set?
A part of Assassin’s Creed Mirage takes is set in Baghdad, approximately 20 years before the events of AC Valhalla, which took place in the 9th century. This period includes the transformation of the last remaining Order of the Ancients into the Templar Order.
A leaked image from AC Mirage possesses the text “The Forty Thieves Quest,” pointing at the tale of Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves from One Thousand and One Nights. Although the retelling of this tale often includes significant creative liberties, it basically revolves around a poor woodworker named Ali Baba stumbling across the wealth of the Forty Thieves.
Gamers play Basim from his initial days as a thief before collaborating with the Hidden Ones. More leaks suggest that the story takes players on a journey to discover how he came to be known as Loki, the Norse God of Mischief.
During the game, you’ll also come across Basim’s mentor, Roshan, an essential character who’ll be present throughout. Consequently, Basim’s training will pave his way to reach Alamut, the Hidden Ones’ fortress in Northern Iran.
You might wonder why Ubisoft chose to create Assassin’s Creed Mirage as an independent game instead of a sequel to Valhalla, as it has such strong ties with the game. The answer lies with the game’s narrative director, Sarah Beaulieu, who intends to make the game more accessible to all its players, and newcomers.
4. How is the gameplay of Assassin’s Creed Mirage?
Reportedly, Assassin’s Creed Mirage will opt to go back to the basic gameplay style of the Assassin’s Creed franchise, eliminating the level system and dialogues. The game will heavily depend on stealthy gameplay similar to the initial entries into the series.
Instead of focusing on hectic combats found in Odyssey, Origins, and Valhalla, Mirage will encompass Hidden Blade assassinations. In addition, Stephane Boudon, the creative director, claims that the smoke bombs, blow darts, noisemakers, mines, and throwing knives will return in AC Mirage. Also, you’ll be free to upgrade the equipment based on your preference.
What’s more, similar to the previous three games in the series, the ability to control the eagles will be back. So, Basim’s eagle, Enkidu, will be able to scout and pinpoint foes.
5. Will Assassin’s Creed Mirage be an RPG?
As Ubisoft wants Assassin’s Creed Mirage to be more like the original game, it won’t be an RPG. On the other hand, the game will belong more to the action-adventure genre.
Like mentioned earlier, Mirage won’t be as big as Valhalla, but players can expect the gametime to be similar to it. Furthermore, it’ll be a much tighter and more focused adventure than Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
6. About Assassin’s Creed Mirage
Assassin’s Creed Mirage is an upcoming game in development from Ubisoft. It is reported to feature Basim, previously seen in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and the gameplay will focus more on stealth than open-world RPG elements. The game was released on October 5th, 2023.
