In preparation for the much-anticipated What If…? Marvel tweeted out a preview clip of the first episode.
Since we’re not privy to many of the show’s details, including the episode order of the characters involved, it was nice to know that Captain Peggy Carter will be inaugurating the show.
Here’s Captain Carter showing off her bazooka of a shield:
In the clip, the super-soldier serum seems to be doing its job, as Carter is in full swing against the enemies trying to attack her. “Trying” would just be putting it politely –– with the strength to lift cars at ease and her handy shield to take care of the rest, Carter’s opponents stand no chance against her.
Something tells us she’s been waiting for this shield all her life.
The first episode will walk the road less traveled as we learn the circumstances behind Carter taking the super-soldier serum instead of Steve Rogers. How will this affect the war and the prevalence of Hydra? Episode 1 is out now for you to quench your curiosity.
Since Loki’s finale and the collision of the multiverses, there have been talks of returning Hayley Atwell to the live-action, even possibly a variant appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multitude of Madness.
And if you do enjoy this rendition of Captain Carter, know that What If…?’s director Bryan Andrews agrees and would love to make a Peggy Carter standalone movie someday. I would certainly give that a watch!
About What If…?
What If…? is an American animated anthology series created by A.C. Bradley for the streaming service Disney+, based on the Marvel Comics series of the same name.
It explores what would happen if major moments from the films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) occurred differently.
The series is produced by Marvel Studios, their first animated series since becoming their own production company. Bradley serves as head writer of the series, with Bryan Andrews directing.
Jeffrey Wright stars as the Watcher, who narrates the series. By September 2018, Marvel Studios was developing a number of series for Disney+, and one based on the What If…? comic was first reported in March 2019.
