Unsealed and Unleashed: Is Satoru Gojo a force for good or evil?

After 1189 long days, the man, the myth, the legend – Satoru freaking Gojo from Jujutsu Kaizen is finally back! And the latest chapter, 221, is absolutely nuts. 

We get to see Gojo facing off against Kenjaku and having a badass showdown with the king of curses himself, Sukuna! I was losing my mind reading this chapter. 

Since the Shibuya Incident, we’ve been dying to see Gojo back in action. And being sealed for that long must’ve taken a toll on him, right?

Being trapped in the prison realm may have greatly affected Gojo’s mental well-being, but despite his anger upon being unsealed, he did not turn into a bad guy. He remains a beloved character and a force for good in Jujutsu Kaizen.

He’s probably been flexing his muscles in that prison realm all this time. I bet he’s come back stronger than ever, and I can’t wait to see what he’s got in store for us!

How did Gojo get unsealed?

You wouldn’t believe how intense that moment was when the squad was about to unseal Gojo. Everyone was on edge like they were expecting the apocalypse or something.

And then, just as Angel used her power on the prison realm, it disappeared! Cue total confusion and panic.

But then Yuji and his group felt the ground shake as Gojo was unsealed from the front of the prison realm that Kenjaku had taken.

Gojo was unsealed by Angel using Jacob’s Ladder, but Kenjaku had buried the prison realm 8000 meters below the surface at the Japan trench, causing Gojo to be released underground.

Kenjaku was sure he would never make it out alive. But of course, Gojo breaks out of an 8000-meter trench and ends up face-to-face with him! Talk about an entrance.

This comeback is the most fantastic thing I’ve seen in any manga in a long time. 

Will Gojo become evil?

In chapter 220 of Jujutsu Kaisen, Yuji and the gang were all geared up for their final shot at ending the culling game. And, of course, they needed to free Gojo first, who was locked up in the prison realm. 

It wasn’t going to be a walk in the park as Gojo had destroyed the only two cursed tools that could unlock it. Luckily, they found Angel, who had the power to nullify cursed techniques and unravel the binding. 

When the seal got undone, Gojo was nowhere to be seen. Angel speculated that he might have turned evil and disappeared when exposed to her light. However, it turned out that he remained his usual charming self upon his release.

Gojo’s mental state was a major issue. He had been sealed away for 19 days, but time works differently in the prison realm, so for him, it could have been just a second or a hundred years of waiting. 

Being stuck in time could mess up anyone’s psyche, and even Shoko had warned them about unsealing a mentally unstable Gojo.

Gojo’s Unsealing: Did it unleash a hero or a villain?

When Gojo finally returns, his whole demeanor feels different. He’s got this laser focus on taking down the enemy, even if it means putting aside the emotions of losing his best friend, Geto.

Even though Kenjaku tries to rile him up, Gojo stays cool as ice on the outside, but you can tell he’s got some severe rage boiling underneath because of how Kenjaku used Geto’s body for his twisted plan.

After getting unsealed, Gojo remains true to his character as a good guy, despite the risk of being mentally distorted from being sealed for so long. He stays calm when facing his enemy Kenjaku, proving that he has a clear goal and is not swayed by his emotions.

When Gojo realizes that Sukuna has taken over Megumi’s body, he doesn’t even bat an eye. That level of composure is something else.

And can we talk about that roast he gives Sukuna and Kenjaku? “The great Sukuna, nicely obeying instructions his mummy knit on his hanky~” I swear, Gojo’s one of the coolest characters in existence. 

Gojo’s Power After Being Unsealed: Has he become stronger?

Gojo is on a whole other level compared to humans and cursed spirits. He is so strong that he can easily accomplish any goal he sets his mind to, whether it’s ending the Jujitsu society’s corruption or uprooting the cause of cursed energy like Geto.

What’s more impressive is that nothing has shaken Gojo’s confidence even a little despite being sealed for so long. 

After being unsealed, Gojo has returned more powerful than ever, with his unwavering strength and confidence intact. We are yet to see his full potential after he learns about the developments in his absence, including the loss of his friends.

It was confirmed in the manga that Gojo could single-handedly destroy an entire country, and we haven’t even seen Gojo at 100% yet.

When he learns about everything that happened when he was gone, his power will be off the charts. 

If Geto’s loss alone impacted him so much, I can’t even imagine what kind of havoc he’ll unleash this time.
