The Boys Season 2 Episode 7 Ending Explained: The Chaos Intensifies!

My main complaint in Episode 6 and a few episodes before that is that it feels like The Boys is trying to get a meme trending rather than focusing on substance.

It has forgotten that this series compelled us in the first place because it’s a good, alternative superhero story. Luckily, the penultimate chapter of Season 4, Episode 7, “The Insider,” shows some promise that the fourth season will end on good terms.

The ending of The Boys Season 4 Episode 7 shows Hughie duped by a fake Starlight. The Boys Season 4 is filled with “Poor Hughie” moments.

When Hughie finally convinces Starlight to put on her costume for a romantic moment, it turns out he’s been deceived by a shapeshifter. After their intimate encounter, the shapeshifter steals a laptop from their apartment.

Earlier in the episode, Annie is approached by a fan for a photo. Little did she know, a shapeshifter, not a fan, was after her genetics to transform into her.

Annie is imprisoned somewhere in an unknown location. Oh, and Butcher collapses on the floor at a random bar at the end. It’s not looking good for The Boys.

1. Is Mother’s Milk Leaving The Boys?

The only reason The Boys are still a team is because of Mother’s Milk.

Mother’s Milk feels too much stress trying to save the world, leading to his panic attack in the last episode. And so he’s taken it the other way and is debating dropping from The Boys for good.

However, when he’s in the process of making that decision, A-Train confronts him. He doesn’t want Mother’s Milk to stop fighting, especially now after he’s inspired to be a genuine hero again.

2.Who exposed A-Train as the leak?

The Deep organizes an unexpected attack on Annie and Butcher, which exposes A-Train as the leak.

The Deep appeared not to pay attention to Homelander; in fact, he was ordered to attack The Boys, and so he does. He comes with a fake Black Noir. However, A-Train arrives to help The Boys and exposes himself as the leak.

After this incident, A-Train meets with Ashley to convince her to leave Vought with him and escape together, though it doesn’t work out for her since she remains at Vought. She advised him to find the chip in his body and remove it from the Vought network before doing anything else.

I was affected by Ashley during this time. She is very aware of her vulnerability as a human being, so she is afraid to leave. She knows that as soon as she leaves, Homelander can kill her instantly.

This is almost like a metaphor for those in organizations subject to corporate politics, who feel like they are hostages at the job and can only hope to keep receiving their paychecks, whereas their absence would probably go unnoticed.

However, back to the leak: Sister Sage has gotten no further in her investigation of the leak in Episode 7, so Homelander is frustrated with her. He then teams up with Firecracker. They initially accuse Webweaver of being the leak, and he lies by confirming.

Homelander discovers he is lying, but just for fun, he tears his body apart.  When Homelander discovers A-Train is the real leak, Sister Sage confesses she knew it was him and was giving them overstepped information on purpose to stop the Boys.  Nevertheless, Homelander is not sure and still discharges her from The Seven.

3. Butcher, Hughie, and Annie’s Final Plan to Kill Bob Singer Explained

After realizing he’s hallucinating Joe Kessler and his wife, Butcher comes clean to The Boys and tells them that he has Samir, which is why Kimiko ended up having her leg chopped off, as he sends Frenchie and her to supervise him making a new virus.

The Boys also find sinister plans for January 6th (yes, they are using the date on purpose) for Vought and co. to kill Singer when he does a rally. Once they find the plans, Butcher, Hughie, and Annie fight a Supe shapeshifter, who manages to escape them.

4. About The Boys

The Boys is an American satirical superhero streaming television series developed by Eric Kripke for Prime Video. Based on the comic book of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, which was originally published by DC Comics under their Wildstorm imprint before moving to Dynamite Entertainment, it follows the eponymous team of vigilantes as they combat superpowered individuals who abuse their abilities.

The show is a satirical take on the superhero genre and showcases a world where superheroes are corporatized and controlled by companies. What happens when these superheroes step out of line and rub some boys the wrong way, is the story.
