Alright, I have to say that the Palm Royale show was quite over-the-top, but episode 8 was something else. I mean, there’s an actual whale in this episode! Most of the time, the show has some weird and unusual things happening, which is the show’s appeal. But a whale? That threw me for a loop.
Even so, I’m still really looking forward to the final two episodes. The ending of this episode was a big cliffhanger, so I’m curious to see what’s next for Maxine and Norma.
1. How does Palm Royale Episode 8 End? Is the Whale identified?
At the end of Palm Royale episode 8, Evelyn is left crying and alone on the beach, while Maxine and Norma are alone on the deck. Norma pushes Maxine overboard using her wheelchair. On the other hand, Eddie finds Evelyn and calls her the saddest and most beautiful woman in the world, and they end up kissing (yikes).
The whale’s identity remains a mystery. Ultimately, Maxine finds herself struggling in the ocean, and strangely, the whale thanks her. But there’s more – Robert discovers that Mitzy wasn’t cheating with Perry but was seeing Douglas.
So, he takes Douglas to a bar to discuss the situation. However, the bar gets raided, and the two men get caught. Or perhaps Norma is the whale, reclaiming what’s rightfully hers.
2. What Happens to Evelyn After She Sees the Whale?
When Evelyn sees the whale, she feels a profound connection and becomes mesmerized by its beauty. Maxine continues to figure out how to guide the whale back into the sea, even listening to a lecture on whale communication.
On the other hand, Douglas goes to Linda for money to fund his project with Pinky. He tells her that if she says no, then Douglas would have to say yes to Evelyn, basically blackmailing her into giving him $3 million.
Robert is in Korea in 1950 with a fellow soldier. He is asked by the soldier to go swimming with him, suggesting they are a couple. Later, Robert tells Maxine that the prince left him because of his past misdeeds.
Today, the Dellacorte family is having a portrait taken for the local newspaper, as their ball is coming up. Norma still strongly dislikes Maxine and even says she wants to kill her to restore normalcy.
During the interview, sad music is heard from outside – a sorrowful Robert playing for his prince.
Maxine hastily interjects, advising Robert not to fixate on someone unworthy of him.
However, before the discussion can progress, Robert is taken aback as they witness a whale beaching itself right in front of them. The unexpected sight of the whale leaves Robert stunned, momentarily diverting the conversation.
Maxine is desperate to have the whale removed from the Dellacorte beach, as she believes it’s bad for business. However, this task may prove more challenging than she anticipated.
Meanwhile, Evelyn and Dinah, Maxine’s apparent rivals, are scheming to disrupt her orders for an upcoming ball. They’re calling caterers and asking them to send cottage cheese instead of rib-eye and sloppy joes without the meat.
Amidst the chaos, Douglas visits Evelyn and informs her that he won’t be a part of her plan to steal from Linda. Instead, he has other plans with Pinky. Maxine then joins a women’s group that Mary leads, as Linda has chosen to remain silent after her father’s passing.
The group members are eager to assist Maxine in her effort to save the whale.
Maxine decides to talk openly with Linda about what she’s going through. Linda advises Maxine to be honest with Robert. It’s like a confession, as Maxine talks about her struggles while Linda can’t see or hear her on the other side of the door.
Maxine learns that Evelyn will be living in a trailer on a limited budget and asks her to help with the whale, too.
Evelyn is quite disappointed about the financial constraints. Meanwhile, Robert visits a gay bar and discovers that the FBI agent Tom is also part of the LGBTQ community.
3. Does Norma Succeed In Getting Maxine?
Norma spikes Maxine’s cocktail to kill her in the middle of the episode. Even though this plan doesn’t work, Norma doesn’t give up.
Later, when Maxine takes Norma to Dinah Donohue’s (Leslie Bibb) yacht for Axel Rosenhips’ birthday party, Norma grabs another chance to kill Maxine.
She releases the locks on her wheelchair, allowing it to move without restraint, and then proceeds to push Maxine overboard from the yacht.
Douglas bought Maxine a beautiful diamond bracelet, likely with money from Linda. He also made Maxine her favorite drink, the grasshopper. Their moment was interrupted when Robert barged into the house, demanding answers from Maxine.
It turns out that Tom wants to thank Maxine for a tip, so he sends Robert to do it, essentially telling him that Maxine has exposed his fraudulent prince persona.
Maxine saved Robert, but it needs to be clarified if the guy was a decent partner. Meanwhile, Norma managed to get out of her wheelchair and tried to poison Maxine’s drink, but Maxine didn’t drink it because they were interrupted again, this time by Ann.
Ann then told Maxine that Norma used to be the lover of Axel, the 90-year-old man Dinah is trying to marry for money.
Maxine has a brand new idea and decides to take Norma to Dinah’s birthday party for Axel. Back at home, Ann sits around, going through Norma’s things and sipping on the grasshopper drink. She finds something interesting, but we’ll have to see if she finishes the drink first.
At the party, Dinah and Maxine start arguing when Eddie shows up. He tells Dinah to get off her yacht, where the party is taking place, and run away with him.
Eddie says he’s in love with Dinah, but that’s not enough for her. Dinah gets the yacht moving, leaving Eddie alone. He moves on quickly, so we’ll see what happens next.
Mary encourages Maxine to keep pursuing hosting the perfect beach ball event.
When it’s time for people to use the microphone to share Axel’s wishes, Maxine seizes the chance and starts making whale sounds to help the whale leave the beach.
Whales are the only sea mammals who tried to come to land but didn’t like it and returned to being water creatures. This could signify that Maxine will also return to being a countryside woman. We’ll have to wait and see what happens next.
4. Is Maxine Simmons alive in ‘Palm Royale’ Episode 8?
Maxine plunges into the ocean but stays afloat thanks to her strong swimming abilities. She calls for help, but the yacht sails away without rescuing her.
Despite the grim situation, Maxine is expected to survive the accident. Her potential savior could be the whale she helped return to the ocean after being stranded on the shore.
However, at this point, Maxine seems unaware that it wasn’t just an accident, but Norma’s deliberate attempt to kill her.
The upcoming episode promises intrigue as viewers anticipate how Maxine will navigate her survival and how Norma will react. The suspense further deepens as it would be interesting to see if Maxine learns of Norma’s true intentions.
