If there’d been an award for the most unexplained ending in anime, AOT would definitely be a top contender for it. That is why, in this article, I tell you exactly what happened to Mikasa Ackerman at the end of Attack on Titan.
What happens to Mikasa in the end?
Mikasa Ackerman finally gets the happy ending she deserved at the end of Attack on Titan. 10 years After Eren’s Death, Mikasa gets married, starts a family, and has a son. She often visited Eren’s grave and was buried beside him years later upon her death.
After Mikasa kills Eren and stops the rumbling she keeps his severed head and runs away. She wanted to give Eren a proper burial which would not have been possible because of what he did to everyone.
Mikasa takes Eren’s head to the old tree in Paradise Island where the iconic trio used to play all day and buries him there. Mikasa is seen visiting Eren’s grave throughout her life.
After an unknown period of time, Mikasa is again seen visiting his grave, this time with a child in her arms, and a husband-like figure behind her. This suggests that after some time, Mikasa gets married and bears children.
It would have taken her a long time to do so, at least ten years, as Eren had hoped. Even though she moves forward, she doesn’t forget Eren, and remains tethered to the memory of her dear friend.
When Mikasa’s time comes, she chooses to rest beside Eren, under that same tree, ensuring that even in death, their bond endures. She is seen wearing the same scarf that eren gifted him in childhood.
Armin, the one who always came in last in the races they had in their childhood, is now an old man seen visiting Eren and Mikasa’s grave. The once strategic thinker, now aged and frail, stands alone after bidding farewell to his dear friend.
