The Story of Griselda Blanco’s Four Sons and What Happens to Them Explained

The latest crime-thriller mini-series on Netflix, Griselda, is based on a Columbian businesswoman and criminal mastermind, Griselda Blanco. Blanco is known to have created one of the most ambitious and financially successful cartels in history. 

Besides being a criminal mastermind, Griselda was also a devoted mother and had four children. She was popularly known as the “Godmother,” hinting at her sustained rule over the cocaine market. 

Sofia Vergara, known for playing Gloria in Modern Family, plays the titular character, delivering an excellent and compelling performance. The series explores various aspects of Griselda’s personal life, including her children. Griselda’s children play an important role in the series, especially in the ending. 

Griselda Blanco had four sons: Dixon, Uber, Osvaldo Trujillo-Blanco, and Michael Corleone Blanco. 

Her first three children were fathered by Carlos Trujillo, Griselda’s first husband. Michael Corleone was born to Griselda and her contract killer third husband, Dario Sepulveda. 

Her three elder sons were heavily involved in her cartel business and other criminal activities. This led them to suffer greatly and ultimately led to their death. Here’s an explanation of the fate of each of Griselda’s sons: 

• Dixon Blanco: Dixon is usually considered the reason behind the fall of his mother’s empire. In exchange for a reduced sentence for his criminal activities, a man called Gerry Gomez agreed to turn in the Blanco family to the authorities. 

Gomez was instructed to contact Dixon as bait, who assigned him the task of money laundering. This enabled the authorities to trace the money trail to Griselda. Dixon was also arrested and has allegedly passed away later. Dixon’s carelessness led to his mother’s downfall. 

• Uber Blanco: As per the series, Uber Blanco was shot to death in Columbia while negotiating a drug deal. Details about his actual death are not confirmed. 

However, as per a 2012 CBS News report, all three of Griselda’s sons (except Michael) were killed by those seeking revenge on their mother. In other words, all her sons died. 

• Osvaldo Trujillo-Blanco: Griselda’s third son, Osvaldo, was murdered outside a Columbian nightclub in 1992. He was killed by those taking revenge on his mother. 
• Michael Corleone Blanco: Michael is the only son of Griselda, who makes it out of this saga alive. He is still alive and starred in the VH1 reality series Cartel Crew, dealing with the surviving members of well-known drug cartels. 

Michael Corleone got married in 2021 and has multiple children with his wife, Faith. Michael Corleone did not appreciate the Netflix series and has filed a case against its makers. As per Corleone, the series used unauthorized images and details about their family. 

He also indicated that the makers recorded conversations with him for the show but did not compensate him.
