Nvidia RTX 3070

RTX 3070 is hands down the best NVIDIA graphic card for Elden Ring. As per the table above, it runs the game at a stable ~60 FPS on maximum video settings for 1080p and 1440p resolution.

Its performance takes a slight hit (52 FPS) when running the game on 4K resolution at maximum settings, and the stuttering issue gets worse, but if you go for medium settings, then it can still manage to squeeze ~59 FPS even at 4K.

II. GTX 1080 Ti, Intel i9-12900K

Geforce GTX 1080 TI

GTX 1080 is another decent choice that NVIDIA has to offer. It provides a stable ~60 FPS gameplay for 1080p and 1440p resolution on maximum settings, but unfortunately, its performance falls to ~40 FPS when running Elden Ring on max settings in 4K.

III. GTX 1060, Intel i7-10700K

Nvidia GTX 1060

GTX 1060 is a great budget GPU to run and experience the beauty of Elden Ring despite being lower than the recommended specification. Many may believe it to be outdated, but it can still put-up decent numbers on the Elden Ring benchmark.

GTX 1060 provides a satisfactory gaming experience on all settings in 1080p resolution or on low settings in 1440p. It is not recommended to run the game in 4K using GTX 1060.

In 1080p, it delivers a stable ~60 FPS on low/medium settings. On high/max settings, it drops to 50-60 FPS, which is still enough for an enjoyable playthrough.

Thus, GTX 1060 is a perfect budget choice for Elden Ring.

AMD

I. RX 6800 XT, Intel i9-12900K

AMD RX 6800 XT

RX 6800 XT is a perfect AMD alternate for the high-end Elden Ring gaming experience. It can run the game at a stable ~59 FPS on maximum settings in 4K, which makes it the absolute best you can get from the AMD GPUs at the moment.

It goes without saying that it delivers flawless ~60 FPS on max settings in 1440p and 1080p resolutions as well.

II. RX 5700 XT, Intel i9-12900K

AMD RX 5700 XT

RX 5700 is another AMD alternate for a decent Elden Ring run. On maximum settings at 1080p, it provides a perfect 60 FPS, which is even better than RX 6800 XT, but in 1440p, it slightly drops down to ~57 FPS.

The game at 57 FPS will still feel perfectly smooth except for the minor stuttering issue that persists despite using the best GPUs out there.

RX 5700’s performance takes a drastic hit when running Elden Ring in 4K on the highest settings. It can only squeeze about ~38 FPS, which may increase slightly by lowering the graphic settings to low or medium.

III. RX Vega 340348, Intel i9-12900K

AMD RX Vega 64

RX Vega 64 is the budget AMD GPU alternate to run Elden Ring at a stable 58 FPS on max settings in 1080p resolution. Vega 64 is the minimum requirement to run the game on maximum settings.

It does not perform well on high settings in 1440p and 4K, but lowering the settings to low or medium can definitely increase its performance, making the game barely playable on such high resolutions.

A GPUs performance is surely essential for running a AAA game, but it can only perform excellently when the system is equipped with a capable CPU.

Is Elden Ring CPU intensive?

Elden Ring is the most CPU-intensive game to date as its recommended processor requirement to provide a stable 60 FPS is an Intel Core i7-8700K 6-Core 3.7GHz or an AMD Ryzen 5 3600X 6-Core 3.8GHz.

Apart from the high-end CPU requirement, many players all over the Steam and Reddit community have raised their concerns over high CPU usage and unusually high temperatures that can go up to 90-100 degrees.

As the game itself is CPU intensive, high temperatures are nothing out of the ordinary, but if you are posting anything above 85+ degrees, then you should consider revamping your system’s cooling mechanism

In many cases, the high temperatures of the processor can be a result of a poor cooling system, so make sure the cooling fans are doing their job correctly.
