Going Deeper is a main storyline quest in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla that can be accessed from the NPC Valka in Ravensthorpe. Initially, finding the plants for Valka’s potion may sound straightforward, but in reality, it is way more complicated as you have to traverse into the depth of an unexplored cavern to get the required items.
To complete the Going Deeper quest, players must collect two (2) Fireweed and three (3) St. John’s Wort plants found inside a hidden cave north of the Dover Cliffs in the eastern Cent region.
Once you reach the region, the quest marker will point you to a house. After walking inside, take the ladder down to start the Cavern of Trials.
Finding Fireweed Plants
Slide down deep into the cavern and locate a hanging key using Odin’s sight. Jump onto the key and press Triangle/Y while in the air to grab it. Use it to unlock the door to the next area.
In the new area, use Odin’s sight again to locate a Fireweed on a stone platform below. Jump onto the platform and collect the plant.
From this platform, jump below to the northern side on a platform with a gateway. Head inside the opening to find and collect the second Fireweed.
Finding St. John’s Wort Plants
Run to the rough stone pillar in the new area and jump onto the ropeways to collect another key right over the pillar, then take the ropeways due northwest to make your way to a ledge in the northeastern direction.
Collect two St. John’s Wort plants from this ledge.
Now, take the ropeways out of this area and make your way through the gateways. In the new location, drop down the rope and unlock the door.
However, you will now be blocked by another locked door. Make your way back through the door and walk up the stairs.
Climb the ledge at the end of the stairs and enter the next area. Here you will find some cargo hanging from the fish nets. Use Odin’s sight to highlight all the targets here in red and shoot them to bring down all the cargo.
Similarly, shoot the target on the wooden ladder near the central pillar/platform to bring it down.
Climb up the ladder and collect the hanging key due southeast from the ladder.
Now, climb back up the central platform and take the eastern entrance out to the new area.
Here, jump from rope to rope and then climb the rock to make your way through another gateway.
Now, jump onto the hanging wooden platform and drop down to find a secret area where you will find the last John’s Wort Plant.
Head to the next area and collect the last key.
Remove the movable stone boulder blocking your way, which will open an entrance back to the long wide stairs where you previously found a locked door.
Unlock the door and loot the chest to collect the Nickel Ingot.
Make your way out of the cave by adjusting the moveable stone blocks and climbing over them to jump past the spikey rocks barring your path. Collect the final key and take all the plants back to Valka to complete the Going Deeper quest.
Valka will use these plants to brew a potion that will grant you access to two mythical regions: Asgard and Jotunheim.
