The Squid Game season 2 trailer has surfaced, and it depicts Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) returning to the grueling games. Despite winning and surviving the contests in season one, Gi-hun’s work is not done. Instead of boarding the plane to reconnect with his daughter, Gi-hun turned around, determined to bring down the games and the Front Man (Lee Byung-hun). In Squid Game season 2, Gi-hun seeks vengeance against those who harmed him and many others.
Netflix has released a new season 2 trailer as part of Geeked Week that shows Gi-hun waking up to find the Front Man at his door. Check out the trailer below:
Gi-hun is later seen waking up back in the game while wearing the green and white player uniform, once again identifying him as player 456. The trailer also shows the Front Man running the games once more, this time without any involvement from their creator, Oh Il-nam (O Yeong-su), while the guards set up a series of seemingly childlike yet deadly competitions.
1. What The Trailer Means For Squid Game Season 2?
The clip has surreal quality is heightened by Gi-hun waking up at the start and end of the footage displayed.
It is unknown whether the Front Man is genuinely at Gi-hun’s door if Gi-hun has returned to the games as player 456 or if these are nightmares brought on by the trauma he experienced during season 1. Simply playing again may not be an effective strategy to exact revenge because he will be relatively powerless in this position and at the mercy of the Front Man and his guards.
Gi-hun may need to find a different way to undermine the Front Man, potentially by posing as one of the guards. If this is the case, Gi-hun could be one of the masked guards shown in the trailer, using the position to destabilize the games from within.
In addition to the mystery of what is happening with Gi-hun, the trailer hints at the new competitions the players will face this time, one of which will involve a pair of circular rainbows, with their bright colors once again feeling disconcerting in contrast with the bloodshed that occurs.
2. Our Take On The Squid Game Season 2 Trailer
The trailer does an excellent job of re-establishing the conflict set up during Squid Game season 1’s ending between Gi-hun and the Front Man while not giving away any essential details about the coming episodes.
It is an effective teaser trailer that hints at the insurmountable odds and formidable power Gi-hun is confronting while emphasizing that the games are still running precisely and ruthlessly. Squid Game season 1 was a global hit and season 2 should be able to follow suit by further raising the stakes.
