Sometimes to do something you want to do, you need a ‘push’ of some kind that gets you out of your shell. What if that push turns out to be way too hard, like a zombie outbreak? Now that every day is possibly the last, it should get you into action for real.
‘Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead’ is the story of an employee who lives a life devoid of joy. Everything changes when a zombie outbreak happens and he loses his job. This allows him to live for himself even if he must escape the zombies on his way.
On Sunday, the official website for the ‘Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead’ anime revealed the first teaser, visual, theme song artists, and the main cast and crew. As per VIZ Media, the anime will premiere on July 9 on Hulu in the United States at 5:00 AM EDT.
The short video shows the main character Akira, who is overjoyed that he won’t have to work anymore. Notice the smile on his face as he seems to get a kick out of running away from the zombies, who look like paintballed decayed human beings.
VIZ Media also announced that the anime will premiere on Netflix and other streaming platforms, for which the dates will be revealed later.
KANA-BOON has performed the opening song “Song of the Dead” as previewed in the video. The ending song was also revealed, which is “Happiness of the Dead” by Shiyui.
The main cast members of the anime were revealed:
Character | Voice Artist | Other Works |
Akira Tendo | Shūichirō Umeda | Adam Taylor (Why Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke’s Mansion) |
Shizuka Mikazuki | Tomori Kusunoki | Makima (Chainsaw Man) |
‘Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead’ is a joint production by VIZ Media, Shogakukan, and Shogakukan-Shueisha Productions. The official website has unveiled the production staff, out of which the main members are listed below:
Position | Staff | Other Works |
Director | Kazuki Kawagoe | Komi Can’t Communicate |
Scriptwriter | Hiroshi Seko | Banana Fish, Chainsaw Man, Vinland Saga |

Animation Production | BUG FILMS | Komi Can’t Communicate (Production Assistance) |
Despite this being a zombie apocalypse, the anime looks so lively and enjoyable that I smell a bit of sadistic pleasure. It’s a horror comedy, after all, so it makes sense. The anime would be much more fun if the chills are just as extreme as the laughs.
