Violet Evergarden is a coming of age anime drama TV series. It is based on a light novel series written by Kana Akatsuki and illustrated by Akiko Takase.
When Kyoto Animation published the novel series, it was presumed that the same would have an anime adaptation too. And after a few years, it happened. The series debuted in January 2018.
1. Violet Evergarden: The Movie Release Date
Initially, the movie was to be released in January but due to the deadly arson attack on the animation studio on July 18 2019, it was later rescheduled for a release on April 24, 2021.
Now, the upcoming Violet Evergarden movie has been delayed again due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.
In an announcement published on the official website, the producers apologized to those looking forward to the movie, also stating that the decision was made in light of the current global pandemic.
2. Expected Storyline/Plot
The movie is supposedly the sequel to the first season although there are few sources that claim that it would be a completely different work.
There isn’t much to infer from the trailer apart from the fact that Violet has now come a bit closer to understand what love is. There are a few speculations going on about Major Gilbert being alive too.
3. Where To Watch?
For now, the movie is only going to be released domestically i.e in Japan. Although you can watch Violet Evergarden on Netflix. It owns the global streaming rights of the anime. So it’s highly unlikely that one would find it elsewhere.
The first season and a special episode are available on the platform. The movie ‘Violet Evergarden: Eternity and the Auto Memory Doll’ will be available from April 2 on Netflix.

There are two key visuals –
A trailer for the movie was released.
The trailer depicts Violet in a search for Gilbert, whose words she hasn’t forgotten yet. She refuses to forget about him and will confess what she feels for him.
The trailer starts with a stray piece of paper or a letter flying due to the wind.
A monologue by Violet accompanies the pleasant trailer. Her various emotions are exhibited through the short clip.
