Street Fighter Fan-Made Film Shows an Epic Fight Between Ken & Balrog

Street Fighter has a new live-action film. Before you get too excited – it’s not something like an official feature-length reboot but a cool one, nonetheless.

A YouTube channel that goes by the name of Eunoia has posted a short film inspired by the iconic video game series to show their love and appreciation for the franchise.

As stated in the description, the channel mentions that the film is not affiliated with Capcom in any way. It’s simply one of those cases of super-fans being awesome by bringing something beloved to life.

Titled Street Fighter: Psychosis, the 13-minute clip is a bloody and violent affair. The animations, action sequences, and costumes used in the short are pretty neat and clean.

The short film begins with Ken and his girlfriend Elisa being kidnapped by Balrog and co. to recruit him to Shadaloo. Elisa’s death leads to Violent Ken fighting the villains and facing Balrog. It also has video-game-like animations of health bars during the fights and loading screens.

Written and directed by Stanton Chong with story by Sean Kohnke, it features Violent Ken and Balrog from the games along with other characters like Ryu, M.Bison, and Vega dropping by.

The Capcom game franchise first debuted in 1987, with Ken and Ryu being the two playable characters back then. The fighters’ family has grown significantly with classic characters like Chun-Li, Cammy, M.Bison, and more recently Blanka, Akuma, and Sakura, Luke.

Ever since, the franchise has had its fair share of official live-action takes with 1994’s Street Fighter movie, followed by 2009’s reboot, Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, and 2014’s Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist series.

There have also been various anime adaptations that remain far superior to the live-action ones. But if the studios were to hire Psychosis’ makers and gave them a bigger budget, there might just be hope for an entertaining live-action feature.

To say this fan-made project reeks of dedication would be an understatement. The creators have even made an Instagram account for the short film where a poster was shared before its release.

If someone had told me this was an official poster for a big-budget Street Fighter remake, I would 100% believe it to be true.
