Vinland Saga is a near-accurate portrayal of the Vikings and the Viking Age. The ruthless seafaring people indulged in fighting most of the time but were also wise and cunning contrary to how the media shows their kind.
The anime created havoc when it first came out, and the otaku community loved it to bits, regardless of how much it traumatized us. It is the kind of anime that will only get worse with each episode, and we can’t wait for more.
Vinland Saga anime’s latest teaser gives us a taste of what the second season has in store for us while confirming its January 9, 2023 debut.
The trailer also previews the season’s opening theme song, ‘River’ by Anonymouz.
Since MAPPA wants to collect all the anime that leaves us traumatized after each episode, they have taken on this one as well. You can see the studio’s immaculate animation style painted all over the video, and we’re not complaining.
Netflix and Crunchyroll will stream the season internationally in various dubbed and subtitled languages. The franchise will reveal other distributors and streaming services soon.
Season 2 will take place after a timeskip, and the video shows us many new faces and a significantly grown-up Thorfinn. With Askeladd’s death at the end of last season, I’m itching to know how the young Viking has progressed or if he’s drowned himself in sadness.
Moreover, new episodes will bring many new faces as the old ones have either died or disappeared. However, one character who will definitely be there is Canute.
Now, many of you already hate the character with a burning passion, and rightfully so, but I’m sure even you’re curious to see how he’s doing. By the looks of it, he doesn’t seem to be holding up well, but time will tell what becomes of him.
I’m sure everyone has many questions and even more theories, considering how the anime returns after a long time.
Will Thorfinn and Canute reach a common ground and work together? Or will the bad blood remain between the two? Let us know what you think, and share your theories.
