Einar and Thorfinn get bullied in episode 3 of Vinland Saga season 2, “Snake.”

We get the introduction of a new character, one who cannot wake up on time yet is the leader of the defense force of the farm. His underlings, however, do not have any sense of respect at all as they fool around with the master’s son and the enslaved people.

As Thorfinn faces philosophical dilemmas, Einar is confused and tries to understand what is going on as he squirms on the ground, attacked by multiple bodyguards. The fight, however, is eventually brought to a quick end.

Episode 4 Speculation

Next episode, we will likely see more of Snake and understand his deal, as well as on what side of the story he will play a part. So far, we see him in a very positive light, and he also seems intrigued by Thorfinn.

Thorfinn will probably go more into questioning his life and the fear of death and, hopefully, remember the dream he saw and try to understand its meaning. No shared vision makes a grown adult wake up screaming like that.

Recap of Episode 3

The drunkards take the owner’s son and get him drunk, and they talk about all their issues. Olmar also starts getting a bit violent the more intoxicated he is, and he challenges them to a duel.

They immediately send him to the floor and take his sword. The young master begins bawling and throwing a tantrum, and he decides to tell him that he needs to become a real man. He says that the only way he can grow up is by killing a person.

Olmar’s reasoning is not functional now, and he immediately gets invested in the idea. The person they’re suggesting he kill, one that he’s allowed to kill, is the enslaved person resting peacefully.

In the morning, Einar does his morning stretches and hears a scream as Thorfinn wakes up from his traumatic nightmares. Einar sees the woman from the horse yet again and begins flustered.

Thorfinn understands that he wasn’t dreaming about something he should forget, and he overhears their conversation. Einar learns that the woman is also a slave, not anyone of a higher standing giving him some hope.

The two bodyguards escort Thorfinn and Einar to someplace on the beach, where Olmar lies in his wait with his sword, but he is too afraid to kill a man and trembles with it. Einar tackles him and tells Thorfinn to run away.

As Einar overpowers the young master, Thorfinn says he can cut him down instead of Einar. We see a new character wake up late in the morning asking for breakfast; he decides to go home instead.

The bodyguard begins taunting Thorfinn and trying to teach him, of all people, the fear of death. Thorfinn begins receiving cut after cut as he slashes him at every limb and doesn’t even flinch.

He asks why you have to fear death, and the bodyguard holds his sword for a moment. Thorfinn doesn’t understand why you have to fear death, especially when not a single good thing has happened in his life.

The leader, Snake, orders him to stop, punches him square in the face, and asks for an explanation of what is happening.

Vinland Saga is set in ancient Viking times, where a young Thorfinn’s life goes astray when his father Thors – a well-known retired warrior – is killed while on a journey.
