Canute continues to pile bodies in order to reach for the top in episode 12 of Vinland Saga season 2, titled “For Lost Love.”

Olmar’s rejection from the King’s guard is used as a method to set up Ketil’s arrest with ulterior motives. Still, it is thoroughly seen through by Thorgil, a skilled warrior with battle skills and the brains to see through the underhanded methods Wulf tries to use.

Now branded criminals of the kingdom, Leif strikes a deal that helps both sides to get them safe and for him to meet Thorfinn after years of searching for the lost boy.

1. Episode 13 Speculation: 

We will likely see Ketil, Thorgil, and Olmar return to the farm with a completely different atmosphere. They may even have to start taking measures anticipating the King’s visit to arrest them. They can’t abandon the farm altogether.

Leif may finally meet up with Thorfinn and find that the boy has completely changed from the person he was years ago, and he may even meet up with Einar and realize the reason for some of his new traits.

3. Recap of Episode 12:

Everyone around Olmar continues to mock him for his actions in front of the King the previous day, including failing even to cut open a pig. One is assigned to tell him he’s been rejected and even allowed to mock him for his stupidity.

Olmar lies hungover with his face on the table, and the messenger does a big act and makes the most of this opportunity to put Olmar down for being unable to cut a pig and being rejected by the King’s guard. 

He is sent over the edge with the insults and immediately draws his sword and tells him to draw his sword, but is met with even more laughter. The situation escalates as he draws his sword, but Olmar immediately gets schooled and is quickly taken out by the warrior.

Thorgil tells him to stand up, get back on his feet, and kill him if he wants to fight back for being insulted and no longer asks nicely. He tells Olmar that there are only two ways to answer an insult, either kill or die and if this is not the day he dies, it’s the day he becomes a man.

As the man gets ready to counter Olmar’s thrust, he is blinded by a coin thrown by Wulf from the audience, and Olmar stabs him clean through the neck and earns his first kill. The rest of his friends try and take revenge, but it is taken care of by Thorgil.

Olmar sits in disbelief as Thorgil cleans up the warriors behind him, and the aftermath is met with Ketil’s outburst of rage over the pile of dead King’s men. Thorgil defends Olmar’s actions, and the King’s guards arrive at the scene, putting them all under arrest, including Ketil.

However, Thorgil resists arrest and immediately goes on yet another rampage where he swiftly takes out the entire squad of guards and questions the leader for setting up Olmar’s victory, a secret scheme to get Ketil under arrest for his son’s disrespect to the King.

This excites Thorgil even further as Canute receives the report on what went down with Thorgil and plans to move to Ketil’s farm three days from now. Leif has managed to sneak Thorgil, Ketil, and Olmar onto his boat as they sail across the sea.
