The chapter starts with a little monologue about how the long winter has finally ended in Iceland and the spring has begun, which means it is time to sail the seas! The scene shifts to Thorfinn bathing and then everyone stocking up the five ships that will sail to Vinland.

Eyvar finally manages to sneak inside the Vinland team along with some weapons, and will likely be noticed by Thorfinn soon enough.

After everything is ready, Karli yells out “DEPARTURE” on his father’s command and the adventure begins!

Vinland Saga is set within Viking times, where a young Thorfinn’s life goes astray when his father Thors – a well known retired warrior – is killed while on a journey.

Thorfinn then finds himself under his enemy’s jurisdiction – his father’s killer – and hopes to seek revenge when he grows stronger. The anime is loosely based on the expedition of Thorfinn Karlsefni in his search for Vinland.
